Yea with an overdrive you can get away with a higher rear gear ratio , 342s will cruise nice at 80 mph with a 4l80e- V6sleeper

Depends on the power your looking to make, if your keeping it NA and 350-450 fwhp then a mild 4l60e will do, anything above that i would re-do the 4l80, thats assuming you want to keep the car overdrive, otherwise a th400 is the cheapest/strongest option the driveshaft is the easiest thing to...- V6sleeper
