87 gn what's it worth

    i think it'as time to sell it, can't find any one who can work on it around here.
    54,000 org. miles, was repainted before i got it in march of 05 i'd say looks great from 10 feet.
    it needs t top and door seals , it drives but has a studder, hezation. 49 turbo , 42lb inj. cai, int is clean.
    ball park price i'd say low side , high side ?? i know it's hard to say with out seeing it . just looking to see what i could or should try getting for it... thanks

    with 54000 original miles, i'd say its worth more than what was said above, but you are right, its hard to say without at least seeing a few pics. Nothing is moving but i think our cars are still holding its value. 10-12k seems a bit on the low side. I bought an 87 gn hard top in very good conditions, but with 127k miles on it for 11k. Its all original.

    Nobody can put a price on your car, way too many variables. Post lots of pics of the car inside and out, under hood and under car, and where the car came from, southwest car, northeast car, etc. List the options. Good luck, these cars will definitely test your patience.

    Personally I think that the hesitation really hurts the value. In TODAY'S market I don't think you would get more than 9k with ANY mechanical issues to the average buyer. Low milage or not.

    Now, if you held out for someone that knows these cars and what it would take to track down and fix that issue, sure. I think 12-15k IF the interior and paint reflect the low milage. But there are a lot more people that look at these cars as something that would be 'cool' to have and don't really know the ins and outs before they buy then there is people that do.

    I thought I had a fairly good grasp of these cars,I've been following them since they were new and could gather what little reading there was at the time in magazines up till poking in to a few message boards before I took the leap. It all sounded like the typical stuff found in car help sections and I thought coupled with 25yrs of people,products and vendors working with these cars that all the bugs of (now not so new and scary magical turbo engines ) would be easy as any car. I've been a little blind sided,I'm not as pumped to own and dump cash and time into a 14-12 second car...hell even if it was faster I think its going to wear on me. I'm kinda leaning heavily on the rare and cool aspect of it at this point as far as justifying having bought this tempermental expensive POS sitting in my garage.

    Theres no doubt about it,these cars a bad ass cool and I've wanted one forever,I'm very close to tapping out and cutting my losses. The things I coulda done with the cash tied up actually trump what I envisioned with the car. If I fix this last thing-about $800 I feel its not the end.

    thanks for the reply's i think the hesitation does more than hurt the priceing, if i could get 10k it would be gone. but every time i go into the detatched garage for the mower i get that feeling just looking at it, it is one evil looking car, and i'd give my right nut to get it running right again. but you know the story car has'nt ran right in 5 years and maybe 100 miles in that time frame, the wife giveing me hell for it just sitting there and haveing to hear over and over you should of bought a 87 or 88 monte ss, every one knows how to work on those. that's why about once a year i post up just hopeing some one close might of joined.. i have thought about selling motor and trans and going with a basic v8 just so i could drive it. i would post up pic's but pic's realy don't show the bad , in the pic's i have it looks like a show car and it's not even though i did win 1st place at a car show with it when i got it. and i'm past the piont of hearing people say change this and that with no help and when i did post up the scan readings every one thought they looked good. i can always hope one day some one will move closer or have to come up this way and take a look at it... thanks again

    it was in pa. , oh. and now wi. but with 53,077 miles i'm thinking it has'nt seen any winters. these were taken today,
    i posted the pic's to bring it up on top, you know some one may see, i still need help with it..

    Unless you need the money I would put it in storage for a few years. I really think prices on these cars are going to go up as they approach the 30 year mark.

    I bought mine in October with 54,000 miles. Very nice interior, poor paint. A few mods. Paid 10,500.

    So, you want to go fast? Speed costs money how fast do you want to go? That being the case you have discovered that if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Do you just not want to work on it? No desire, no knowledge, no time? The tech isn't cutting edge anymore. There are plenty of scan tools for sale to troubleshoot with. The knowledge here and elsewhere on the web is virtually endless. Trust me when I say you aren't discovering new probs others haven't already solved. You sound like you have the place to do a little work, you obviously have the car, you just need to put in some time and collect up some tools you might not already own.

    Unloading it now in this market with problems, you are bound to take a bath. I would have to say getting $10k for a car that isn't running well no matter the mileage or condition will take a certain buyer.

    at this point i just want to drive it, i wish i could work on it but my health realy won't let me do much. you're right in 86 maybe this car was cutting edge but not now. i have joined alot of car boards in hopes some one might be close with no luck, around here if it was a john deer tractor i'd be out plowing up a storm. cross my fingers and hope..
