im running a mix of 93/e85 50/50 mix with a very light! spray of alky what would happen if i decided to fill the alky tank with str8 e85 and spray that into the upipe, has anyone ever tried this? sounds flammable...

Not sure whose alcohol system you are using, but I believe razor's pump won't stand up to the gas in E85

It's been said before that the petroleum will indeed kill the pump.

I also mixed 93 and e85. I might have had a splash of 110 in there also. Helped a lot with knock at higher timing and boost. Interested in your results. Lets hear what happens....

yeah im gona do it, its cheaper than meth and cheaper than denatured alcohol...and its going to work better..

I wonder if you're going to run into a problem with it puddling.

i have the same nozzle that i would use on an alky kit.. the spray nozzle, and im just going to set it at the lowest pump speed and work my way up from there.. i havent seen or heard anyone else doing it on here so i'll post my results later tonight...i dont have a progressive controller i have an old std SMC controller which i can adjust speed to w.e i want and start to spray at about 10# of boost so it forces the ethanol into the motor not puddle.. i will take video if anyone is interested on how im doing it. i just custom fitted a walbro in the smc tank, and ran a line thru a provisional hole and attatched it to the line on uppipe wire it up to the smc bottle to run off the smc harness..fairly easy to do..i think its going to work just fine.. ive thought about it for a while but been waiting for someone to bring it up guess they love the meth im going a different route..easier im already running e85 thru my system it isnt anything new to my motor its going to work just fine..

Chriss ether put the whole fuel system on e85 or pump gas and methanol..... Alky is cheap. and a hell of a lot cheaper then that motor is going to cost you playing mad scientist... There is no need to reinvent the wheel.

i agree im going full e85 but i still would like to cool the charge regardless of fuel... so while i wait for the injectors chip and pump im going to try and see what i can do whit what i have.. im not trying to re invent the wheel im just cooking up something different. i just tried injecting e85 into the motor worked just like the alky i paid $3.60 a gallon for it...im still running high timing, i even tried running without any alky just gas diluted 50/50 with e85 same timing for alky and had 0 knock...back to the e85 injecting im having trouble with the line staying with pressure line might be too big from the pump up to the upipe or maybe because it has to travel upwards so much thats all so its coming on a bit later than i expected no bogging or anything... im not a mad scientist but i think e85 is going to work better than meth it has alot higher octane rating than most people think and the way im headed might show no need for the huge injectors anymore..im just doing something different if i blow i blow...most fuel already has 10-20% ethanol in it im running pump gas diluted with more e85 to help octane without sacrificing MPG e85 has a bad rep for having no mpg. just give me a chance rmar im not trying to prove a point or prove e85 is better.. im doing it for myself if anyone esle wants to try feel free anyone want to correct me feel free im open to everyone... i do agree with me being 100% on e85 though

E85 octane is in the 105 range. Methanol octane in the 140 range.

I run E85 with a very light spray of methanol on top. It's "bomb proof" that way. Not sure I would want to give up the methanol octane in favor of more E85.

e85 is more than 105 octane more like 113 octane..

update** Ran 1/2 a gallon of e85 thru the alky system $1.60 which included wot shots and random spray tests on different pump speed levels, and IMO the meth/denatured alcohol/methyl alcohol seems to cool better... just by test spraying on idle you can feel the difference on the uppipe, i don't have the air temp on the doghouse but feels significantly colder maybe a 20 degree difference when sprayed (by touch)..There is also a difference while driving the a/f seems to suddenly drop and becomes very rich once the e85 is sprayed maybe need to tweak the nozzle or pump speed to see best spray pattern for e85.. so the only way i would want to run e85 thru my custom alky setup would be if i were for example running on 100% e85 and my IDC were nearing over 80-90% i would easily use this method to help out with IDC, and could run same boost levels that would require bigger injectors.. i still think i should do more research when im on 100% e85 i love the fuel its high octane and its a domestic product.. i will update as soon as i do anymore test.

I run E85 through a modified SMC kit using a Bosch inline fuel pump... works fine.
