The comments following the article have some good points, too. A comment I read from another source, said that an "average citizen" involved in using a handgun for self defense, hits the target in only 2% of the attempts. The statement made in this article has the perp being much closer than I had thot, when the defender fired.... I guess the use of my Mossberg is a fairly sure way to TCOB....At least up to 50'.

I have read a few similar articles and it seems that most seem to agree that the majority of self defense scenarios involving a firearm take place in a pretty close distant (usually 5-7 yds) and in many cases there was no need for a high capacity autoloader. Everyone will have varying opinions about the effectiveness of different calibers in SD situations, but I really think shot placement is the key. Oh well, just seen it and thought I'd pass it along for whatever it's worth.
