    Alternator bracket-- for 86-87 alternator on 84-85 GN conversion
    GM # 25503134
    Was used on all 1981-1987 RWD Buick V-6's. Can find them on a lot of the 4.1 V-6 cars and it appears they may have been part of the gauge option on the 81-83 cars. Look for the voltage gauge on the right rear corner of the cluster and it’s a sure bet that it has the bracket.

    Aluminum Bumper Reinforcements
    Only used on Regal coupes with the turbo V-6 or factory installed Olds 307 V-8.
    Hint: 86 & 87 were the only years for the V-8, unless you live in Canada. Look at every 1981-1987 Regal you come across in the bone yard. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason as to when these Aluminum supports were used.

    You'll see them on Turbo-T/T-types, base models, Limited’s, 307 or 231 powered, whatever.

    Easy to ID. They have 1" diameter balance weights welded to them. Usually found on GM's that have alloy wheels and no posi. 3rd gen F-bodies are your best shot. Used on B, C, D, F, and G-bodies with the 4.75 bolt pattern.

    Chevrolet did not install on any of their models.

    Note: As far as 71-79 VINS go the 6th character is the year (i.e. 8=1978) on 1980 and newer federal law mandated all manufacturers use a 17 digit format with the 10th character being the year. For example the letter A is used to designate 1980 and B=81 etc. There is no letter O or Q so the year is bumped to the next letter i.e. N=92 P=93 etc with it ending with Y=2000 and again starting with numbers 1=2001 etc.

    Dual Elec. Fan- Ramcharger style
    You will want the dual fan setup from a '98 - '04 Dodge Intrepid. I believe all three engine options (2.7L, 3.2L, and 3.5L) had the dual fans. Actually any '98 and up Chrysler product will do - Intrepid, Concorde, LHS, 300M.

    F-body Radiator
    OEM replacement Radiator for a ’87-’92 Camaro with V-8

    TurboBuicks.com - Upgrade To The F-Body Radiator

    F-body Sway Bar
    Late '80s - early '90s F-bodies (Camaro/ Firebird) Z28, IROC, Trans Am.
    They come in different sizes, 36mm is the largest.
    Moog makes bushings to install on the G-body.

    Note: The hollow bars only came on 3rd gen Camaro/Firebirds that came from the factory with 16" tires. In other words don't waste your time looking in the V-6 powered cars.

    Front Frame Braces
    GM # 472169 and 472170
    Any 81-87 Cutlass, Grand Prix and Monte Carlo SS.
    The Malibu’s only got the braces if it had RPO 9C1 (Police Equipment)

    The really odd thing is the Pontiac Grand Prix from those years.
    From the factory, it had the cross brace, angle braces, and under hood braces, ALL the body bushings (even the "GNX" bushing), AND the back seat had the same angular stamping welded in that the GNX got.
    They were the most solid G-bodies you could buy.

    Hydro-boost Brake Booster
    84-85 GN's Power booster, Master cylinder, Hoses
    Hydra-boost and Power-master use the same pedals. Those of course are different than the vacuum booster pedals.
    Any Hydra-boost from a G-Body will work. Turbo or Diesel. The 83 carb-turbo was also Hydra-boost. I guess you could say plug and play assuming you have the PS and Hydra-boost hoses figured out.

    Posi- Rear Axle
    Look for G80 RPO code.
    You can find the 8.5" with 3 series carriers in 77-87 Caprice and Impala. Look for cop cars and station wagons. Other RWD full size GM's too. 87 and older 1/2 ton trucks as well. Look in the 80's trucks with overdrive auto trannies as those always have 3 series gears in them. Double check the axle spline count. You need 28 splines. Around 87-88 GM went to 30 splines. I have found that cars and trucks in the Snow Belt are your best bet for finding a posi carrier. Damn hard to find where they aren't needed.

    Vacuum Brake Booster Conversion
    86-87 Monte Carlo Double Diaphragms
    Non-turbo Regals
    Carquest # 54-71243
    Get the double-diaphragm type vacuum booster like what the 86-87 Monte SS used. I know most of the vacuum brake G-bodies from 79-87 used the same unit, but specifying it to the guy behind the parts counter lets them pick it out from the computer easier. I think mine was part number 50-1243 from AutoZone. $200 -- order it with a master cylinder.

    Power Window Motors
    Early (78/79) A body
    80-92 GM cars- Rebuilt motors
    Two models of cars that used this type of motor up into the 90's are the 1990-1996 U-Van (Lumina APV, Silhoutte, and Transport) and the 92-98 N-Body (GrandAm, Acheiva, and Skylark) so you have lots of models to pick a fairly new condition one from anyway.

    Valve Stem Caps- Gray
    All of the T's and GN's came with gray valve stem caps. If you want to see what an original one looks like, look at your space saver spare.
    All late model Chrysler products with aluminum rims have GRAY valve stem caps and pretty close to the original Buick ones...

    Updated list as of 12-26-09

    Alternator bracket-- for 86-87 alternator on 84-85 GN conversion
    GM # 25503134
    All 1981-1987 RWD Buick V-6's. Can find them on a lot of the 4.1 V-6 cars and it appears they may have been part of the gauge option on the 81-83 cars. Look for the voltage gauge on the right rear corner of the cluster and it’s a sure bet that it has the bracket.

    Aluminum Bumper Supports- (Export Braces)
    Front Bumper Brackets- older Regals - 85 (?)
    GM # 25517838 and GM # 25517839
    1986 Regal T-Type came with one-piece front & rear brackets

    ID Codes – on tag in trunk
    VD6 –Front
    VD7 –Back

    http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/general-turbo-buick-tech/47967-lightweight-bumper-j-y-score.html

    78-88 GMC Sprint/ El Camino

    Easy to identify. They have 1" diameter balance weights welded to them. Usually found on GM's that have alloy wheels and no posi. 3rd gen F-bodies are your best shot. Used on B, C, D, F, and G-bodies with the 4.75 bolt pattern.

    Aluminum Core Support
    78-80 G-Bodies (Only Buick, Olds and Pontiac)
    Chevrolet did not install on any of their models.
    Note: As far as 71-79 VINS go the 6th character is the year (i.e. 8=1978) on 1980 and newer federal law mandated all manufacturers use a 17 digit format with the 10th character being the year. For example the letter A is used to designate 1980 and B=81 etc. There is no letter O or Q so the year is bumped to the next letter i.e. N=92 P=93 etc with it ending with Y=2000 and again starting with numbers 1=2001 etc.

    From the factory, it had the cross brace, angle braces, and under hood braces, ALL the body bushings (even the "GNX" bushing), AND the back seat had the same angular stamping welded in that the GNX got.

    Posi- Rear Axle
    Look for G80 RPO code.
    Just for reference some of the most common codes are:
    GU1 = 2.41
    GU2 = 2.73
    GU4 = 3.08
    GU5 = 3.23
    GU6 = 3.42
    GT4 = 3.73
    GT5 = 4.10 or 4.11
    G80 = POSI

    GNX and GTA wheel info

    Wheels- GNX
    Buick GNX rim manufacturer: JWL (Japan Light Alloy Wheel)
    Manufacturer info: JAWA | Objective
    GNX rims were available in 16x8.
    Buick GNX came fitted with these rims in 1987.
    All GNX rims were not dimpled and were a 2-piece design.
    The GNX are marked “OFF-15” for the fronts and “OFF-23” for the rears. Both front and rear also have the marking of “8JJX16”.
    Front offset: 15mm
    Front backspacing: 3 15/16”
    Rear offset: 23mm
    Rear backspacing: 3 9/16”

    Wheels- GTA / Trans Am
    Pontiac GTA rim manufacturer: JWL (Japan Light Alloy Wheel)
    Manufacturer info: JAWA | Objective
    GTA rims were available only in 16x8.
    The Pontiac GTA’s came fitted with these rims from 87-92.
    GTA 86-88 are the non-dimpled 2-piece design.
    GTA 89-92 are the dimpled 1-piece design.
    The GTA’s are marked “front” and “rear”.
    Front offset:
    Front backspacing: 4.75”
    Rear offset
    Rear backspacing: 5.25”
    Notes: It has been stated that the dimpled style is more desirable. The reason GM made the dimpled style was because the non dimpled style center hub was weak and was prone to cracking. In addition, 4 fronts are more desirable due to the offset.

    If you run 12" brakes in front, rears will actually fit better than fronts, due to the 3/8" increase in track width per side of 12" brakes.
    or …
    If you plan on having the front wheels narrowed, for drag racing or a big/little look, the "rears" will work better if narrowed than "fronts".

    NOTE: Set of Four FRONT GTA WHEELS 16 X 8" from the early Turbo Trans Am don't require spacers!

    Your Thread

    What a great thread. It will take me days to go through it!!!! I am going to do the disc brake conversion asap.

    One thing; do u have a sheet that I can tell me how to convert the VIN # into years? I used to have a sheet for the 80's cars but I lost it and one for the 98-05 cars would be helpful when going to the bone yard in cold weather!!!:)

    If you have time and have the information available could you send it to
    rfhunt@aol.com I'll boil it down and try to put it on a card and send it back to you (laminated) if you send me your name and address.

    TIA
