Is a rack and pinion legal for TSL? The rules I find here say: I would assume that means that a rack is illegal. I already have the rack on my car because it's legal for TSM, but I want to keep the car legal for as many classes possible. My only other question is about the rearend. The rules say: I bought 15x10 4.5" backspacing wheels and built my rearend to fit. I'm not sure if it's within the 1" allowance or not becuase I don't know what the width is on a stock rear. What's the purpose of this rule?
Mike I e-mailed Gary Harmon (final answer) for the answer, he's the RRA of TSL. Billy T. gnxtc2@aol.com
Thank you. I'm fine with putting a manual box back on. But if the rearend won't fly I'm out and might as well keep the rack. My car won't be done until late this year at best anyways.
Mike & others I became a mod for the TSL section. I will post the most current rules and current ETs/MPHs. I don't understand the 1" rear end rule either. Billy T. gnxtc2@aol.com
Mike, That rule came from GSCA in order to keep the cars stock appearing by keeping the tires under the wheel wells. I can't remember anyone even checking widths. As far as the rack goes if you can put the manual box back on OK. We want as many cars in the class as possible and try to keep the rule changes to a minimum. Do intend to rum BG in 20012? Thanks Gary. I'll work on getting a steering box put back in. If keeping the wheels and tires inside the wheelwell was the intent of the rearend rule, I don't think anyone will have anything to complain about on mine. 275/60 radial on a 10" wheel completely inside a stock wheelwell with a notched frame. Making BG in 2012 is very unlikely. I've still got to finish the cage and get the car painted. I would still have to decide which class I would run in. The car and motor should be legal for both xTSM and TSL with only a turbo change.
