Frustrated with window adjustment. Followed procedure in GM manual, still get massive air leaks. Rubber is stock but looks good. Window doesn't seem to come up the same way every time. Must be slop in the track mechanism. Suggestions?

Check to see if the rear window support is broken. It is the piece on the glass towards the rear that the pin on the rear of the door inserts to hold the window steady in the up position. These break if the window is removed incorrectly. It is about 4 inches long and oblong in shape bolted or pop rivited to the glass. Look closely at both windows and there parts to see if there are any differences in the glass as one might have been replaced or broken before. I know it sounds foolish but try to understand how all those adjustments work as I studied mine for about 2 hrs rolling the window up and down to see which adjustment did what. Mark the window adjustments so you can return them all if it really gets screwed up.
