Where did you install the return Tee above the fiter? Looks like you used the original Buick resevoir canister. About 4 posts back PowerBrake Bob writes about using their new double return line R-canister, because of a syphoning problem some have had. You must not have experienced that problem.

I actually installed it directly to the reservoir. So far siphoning has not been a problem that has come up. In fact everything has worked perfectly from day one.

Thank you! It has been one of the best modifications I have ever made to the car.

How long did it take you to install, and how much do you think you spent on the conversion? I'm thinking about going this route, I would like to have it done by Noble which shouldn't be a problem. Thanks!

DreamCar teed mine down at the steering box I was goin to try it like that, I'll look at it in the am and move the tee to the resevoir. What filter did you use and what was the cost?

If I remember correctly it took about 3 hours but I was in no real hurry at the time. As far as the money spent it was around $750.00. As you can see I went with the SS braided lines and in line filter. The goal was to do it once and never mess with it again. So far so good.

Picked it up when I ordered the HB from powerbrakebob. I think it added $10.00 to the final price.

If you look real close you can see the T in the first picture coming off the reservoir.

Dreamcar did you use speed bleeders when bleeding sysytem? If so what size are the bleeders for a 87 GN? Are they the same size front and back? If they ain't worth the trouble I 'll just use the originals. Just finished making special brake lines for the line locks and proportional valve back to the master. I'll use the old shorter lines to bench bleed Master cylinder. Hope to finish wednesday just need to change out fronts to braided SS and the rear as well. It will be nice to have brakes.

I had to laugh when I originally read this. It is funny how much time and money I have invested in brakes and I bleed them the old fashioned way, the wife behind the wheel.;) Never even thought about the speed bleeders but that is a good idea.

Dreamcar86 / POWERBRAKEBOB

I thought the powermaster was a 2 bolts to the firewall. I notice from the pics that the HB you have is 4 bolts.

did you have to do any modifications or was it a straight replacement bolt-in?

thanks... dave

How many parts interchange with truck parts. I've got a 1988 V30 with the stock Hydroboost system. What parts will fit onto the Buick? Would it be a bolt in application?

2 bolt install

Ours is a 2 bolt install had to make the hole in the firewall a 1/4" bigger in diameter for HB to set in place.

Bleeding brakes

Yeah tried the one man bleed job today it was futile. Kids were to busy on My Space to give a hand/foot. So I ended up just Gravity bleeding the rears. I'll just wait till I can get someone to help me this weekend.

Chavo - PM me - I might be able to help you out.

ChavoLC2... is yours a PowerBrake HB?

Have you tried using a vacuum pump to bleed your brakes? the vacuum system basically suck the brake fluid through the lines. This is a one-man brake job... no kids, no wife required!!!! just make sure you don't bleed the master cylinder dry!!!

PowerBrake HB

Finished buttoning up everything and took her for a test ride nice very nice. Was able to do the one man bleed a combination of gravity and my own jerry riggin to hold the pedal down. Despite myself Car stops solid thank the Good Lord! I'll try and post some pics ..it was a fun install 1st time ever messing with a brake system/power steering. The hardest part was just getting to PS pump just a matter of removing accessories like alt., AC compressor . The best part was making/bending and flaring all new custom bends pipes to line locks front and back and proportional valve back to Master. Took a little practice learning how to flare without distorting pipe end, took a few runs/cuts to get it close to looking right. Was able to borrow the tools from Autozone. Had some wild bends to make to get up and around to PV. The gal at PowerBrakes action Jackson was a hoot and great to work with. Nice unit they have.
