Rear sway bar

Do it Double D

The tweaks were very minor.

Jeremy, keep in mind that the pictures show the end links after I cut them down. Prior to that I had about 2 5/16" of threads showing when screwed all the way in.

I have a set of moogs on the back not sure of the p/n or ride height.

To use your term I am at 4" center to center.

I agree, sending long ends allows each install to be custom matched to ride height, and it doesn't take much effort to cut them down.

Good stuff.

Mike

Yeah I can tell your pics show the post-cut threads. They must have defintaley sent the wrong link with that much thread showing!

I have their initial bar that they sent out for vendors to test with so mine was already mounted once prior on a lowered Monte so I'm hoping mine should just bolt right up once i get my 9" in. I should also have a little more rear angle becuase of the diameter of my axle tubes so I might not have to use a spacer on the straps. Unfortunately I still have quite a bit of work to do on my rear housing before I can send it to get powder coated so I wont be mounting mine for a while!:(

DONE! interesting they are right here in chicago. Thanks for the coupon code!

now for my end of the bargain. next person gets my one time 10% off offer!

I will share my experiences once it arrives and I get it installed.

Thanks!

Dennis, I'm gonna jump on that code if you don't mind... was just gonna order the Hellwig bar this week!

I'll post one if I get it... these people are 5 minutes away from me, may try to pick it up.

Thanks!

Mine was drop shipped from Hellwig in California, but AAG may be stocking them now.

Great idea with the discount code sharing.

Mike

by all means use it hurst guy!

Thanks Mike for originally starting it all!

Thanks Dennis! (and Mike!)

Placed my order... they drop ship the Hellwig stuff, so I can't pick it up to save any money. I got hit with the 8.5% IL sales tax, but with the coupon, it came to $198 shipped. That's a killer deal. Friendly customer service, too.

To continue the trend, I'll pass along my coupon code to anybody that needs it: 1x0b-2z68-kb3n

Just make sure it gets claimed here.

I bought this one from Applied Techknowledgies an Research back in the 90's..Still works great! its 28mm,bolts to factory location

I got one of those sitting around that came on my limited..I just bought a h&r bar but havent installed it...

I got the hellwig bar in the mail yesterday and it sure does look like a nice piece.

The endlinks on mine are very long as previously mentioned. Fully screwed in, i still probably have 2-3 inches of thread showing. Even with the cargo coils and crap on my car, we'll see how everything lines up. it may require cutting, but I see no problem with that.

excited to get this installed. The directions that come with it seem pretty well done as well.

JD, can you explain how the three different holes affect the swaybar? I'm afraid I cannot picture exactly how moving the mounting location will "tighten up" the sway bar. I'm probably just missing something.

the closer you move the end links to the axle the tighter it feels due to reduced leverage.

Exactly! The outer most setting would be for basic street use, the center setting would be for aggressive street/autocross/road course use, and the setting closest to the axle would be for the strip!:p

Helwig bar

Based on pics of this bar installed, it looks like Helwig failed to provide clearance for the factory brake line locations. I don't like having to bend my nice stainless lines for the U clamp so I'll be passing on this bar. Not trying to be debbie the downer but for that kind of money I would expect better execution. If I have to custom fabricate a clamp that doesn't dork up the factory brake lines then I might as well use the Blazer bar. JMHO.

given it is $200 cheaper than most other aftermarket bars in its class I'm willing to bend a couple lines. JMO.

my car isn't a beauty queen though. I dont think anyone will ever look at my brake lines.

A simple little trick, just go get Blazer U bolts and use them on the Hellwig bar!

I do agree with you though, I dont understand why they wouldnt give a provision for clearencing the lines but we are talking high performance parts here. Not all rear ends have brake lines in the same location and the U bolts can be used on many different vehicles.

That would be a good solution if the Blazer brake lines were routed the same as a G body. The Blazer lines aren't secured along the axle tubes so using the factory U bolts aren't an option.

Really? I was thinking the last Blazer bar I put on didnt cause me any problems with the brake lines on the GN. I dont know, I must have just made something work.

There has to be a place to get a set of U bolts with the bump out for the brake lines. They are not exactly rocket science engineering, just simple U bolts. Have you looked into Hotchkis U bolts or any other brand? I know i've installed them with the bump outs but I cannot think of which brand off the top of my head.

Either way, maybe a stock style bar would work best for your application so you dont have to worrry about the brake lines.

Edit: Looking at Hotchkis and DSE, they both use simple U bolts as well.

I checked it last weekend in the yard. Rear brake lines for the blazer go flexible from the caliper to a frame mount location. Not a bad idea on buying some off the shelf U bolts that work with factory brake line location......I just need to find a supplier now.

Can't you just slide the u-bolts under the brake lines. I mean we can't be talking more than just 1/4"-3/8" you'd have the lift the lines off the axle.
