Motor trans are already out. Thinking of pulling the body of to do a major chassis detail. Getting a new gas tank. I know remove the bumpers. My question is can I leave the entire front clip on? Not really wanting to chance screwing up the pretty paint.

yes you can I did a body off on my GN last year and removed the entire car with the clip attached I just removed the bumpers

Nice. I would love to do a frame cleaning whereby the frame is rewelded, strengthened, blasted and painted. . . . but I am too old and too tired. Props.

oh yea! haha. So yours is fixed? bring it to the Richmond hangover nationals thursday! I'll be there!
I have no idea, its been fine lately but I have not driven it much. I switched back to resistor plugs but have done nothing else to it.

Pulling the body off the frame is very straight forward it only took me a couple hours. Unplug the engine wiring harness, trans linkage and over drive hook up, fuel lines, steering shaft, bumpers hit all the bolts with a impact and it should lift right up. The reason I did this because the previous owner did a crappy job repairing the rear brake and fuel lines with rubber hoses leaking everywhere. Luckily I didn't have to repair the frame or body mount areas. I cleaned painted replaced all fuel, brake and suspension parts. The only thing I regret doing is not powder coating to the frame. I used Eastwood Chassis Black to the frame and I am having brake issues right now and ruined the finish in some areas from fluid

Ahhhh good eye.
Planning to do this soon after I finish school. Im hoping 6 young strapping men can lift the body off the frame. Interior gutted.

Could you explain how. I though that was used after the body is off, thanks
we used two pieces of angle iron bolted to the rotisserie arms to hook under the rocker pinch weld on the inside between the lip and the frame. (my rotisserie has the hydraulic jacks on it to lift with) Once we got it lifted high enough, we could roll the frame out from under the car. Not sure how well it would work with the front clip still attached (mine was not) due to balance....

hard to see it, but there's a pic in this thread: http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/threads/gn-is-95-done.265346/
