I have an 84 with no shoulder harnesses. Did the 85-87s have retractable shoulder harnesses? I don't know what year they became standard on cars. My kids are out of boosters and am not thrilled with them riding with just the lap belts.

I have access to belt assemblies to create something but would be more interested stock inertia reels if there are any?

What do you guys use?

I need to do this to both my cars. Ive got extra front belts for the GN, hoping someone else would figure out the stock retractors before I had to.

I'm getting ready to begin this. Anyone use www.seatbeltplanet.com for belts...

What color would match 85-87 GN belts best 65-Gray or 67-silver?
I already have the 4 point harnesses for the front and I am developing the brackets for the rear. You cannot use a retractor in the rear without serious modification to the seat and drilling into the car .
The rear will be 4 point harnesses too...but no retractors. The retractors can only mount one way and rear seat was never designed to allow movement of a belt when it's properly installed.
Right now I sell complete bolt in front seat kits.
Standard or retractor style. I have designed these kits with maximum safety in mind.
The rear seat kits will use a bracket system to allow up to 3 harnesses along the rear seat.
The Monte Carlo write up has major flaws in the mounting and function of the belts. I have been looking into a complete mounting kit for some time and hope to have it ready by spring.
Child safety seats are difficult to work around.
I won't market a product without complete confidence in it.
Any questions...PM me.
Thank you

@ Coach, I haven't bought or begun anything yet with the Monte setup. You know our northeast winter is long so I'll have no need till spring. Let me know if I can help in any with the development. This kit you are developing looks to be on its way. I'm sure this will be popular.

How old are the passengers riding in your backseat?

9 and 6 at the moment. I wasn't using boosters with just the lap belts. But I could and would depending on the strap fit.

One thing I'm trying to design into the rear package tray brackets is the ability to adjust the shoulder mounts from very narrow to wider as your child grows.

I'm in for 4pt rear seat belts. My kids are 8, 6 and 3. In my state I have to use a car seat of some kind if under 8. But I'd think a 4 pt would be way safer than a 2 pt in a booster.

I would be interested as well. I have two little ones that love riding around with the T-Tops off...

Maybe a bit off topic but I remember when our 85 was a daily driver and we had the kids in the back without
car seats as they got older. The seat belts would ratchet tighter with each bump in the road. I had to make a
wooden clamp for the seat belt to prevent it from doing that. (Basically I stopped the retraction of the belt.)
Poor design by GM on that. If you plan to add shoulder harness and use stock lap belts, keep in mind they
tighten up on your little ones.

@ Coach, Any Updates?
Working on the brackets to reinforce the rear package tray. The belts will fasten there and I'm trying to make them adjustable enough for small frame children as well as adults.
This requires a lot of thought and design. These will be very important and I will not sell any product that is not seen as extremely high quality just to make a buck.
Thank you
