It can and was done years ago, but this is a VERY expensive process. Bosses were built up by welding on the 109 block, and then drilled and tapped for studs.

I do not remember any of these blocks that lasted over about 20 passes at low 9's/high 8's at 900-1000 HP.

With time trials and elimination runs in turbo Buick events, it was always best to have a spare engine to make it into the final rounds.

Zimmermann Racing Engines and us have the distinction of the first 109 block in a GN that went into the 8's with Cal Hartline driving here at a local track!

Wow! That's not cool. No one should make you feel that way. You shouldn't have to worry about that kind of stuff. God knows, Iv'e asked some pretty stupid questions and have also been corrected when I have given some pretty stupid answers.

But I guess one answer could be "anything can be done."

But then the other answer is "No way would it be as good or worth it."

Stage blocks have the material in these locations for the additional holes. And in some cases the holes aren't drilled and tapped. But they can be. The same goes for the 4 bolt mains. And in some cases, even 6 bolt mains.

Basically, if you want the clamping strength, get a stage block.

Or the TA aluminum block.
