Thanks for the info and yea I haven't really had a reason to look at these until last weekend and I noticed how they attach and bolt to the body, the part i was curious about was on the sides where there are no bolts - for example if I ordered this set (which I do like especially if it's cheaper...
After doing some further searching today I found out what I'm looking at are called bumper fillers and found them for sale at GBodyParts. :)
I just sent them an email but I figured I would ask here as well, what does ABS stand for in the case of these bumper fillers and what is the pros/cons...
So question first.... from what I'm seeing....both at the back and front of the car...in between the bumper and the the car is what appears to be a flimsy piece of black plastic that runs from one side of the car to the other - I'm assuming this is how they came from the factory?
Anyway, i...
Yea I get the satisfying part of doing the work yourself, that's part of the reason I bought this car. I mean it's in great shape, i think, as is but i wanted to learn to do more work myself and might try the fuel pump + hotwire kit, could probably do that. I have worked on cars before a...
I have read that article as well and want to do some of the same things such as replace the valvesprings and fuel pump and such but again most of those are things I don't feel comfortable doing myself so as you said it's as money is available lol.
The valvesprings are another question, in this...
Thanks for the post :) I have read the same thing, the problem with the stock timing set is the nylon top sprocket, however, I also read (not sure if it's true) that it's just a nylon coating and was added by the factory to reduce noise or something like that. At any rate, some other posts I...
Thanks, this was really informative :) So apparently if I stick with the stock cam or something close to stock even if I do change it I would want the TA_V1522B Even Fire so that answered that question i had. I liked the details listed in this post about that chain the how typical ones fail at...
So clicking on the link there was no pic and very little info, however, when I searched I found a post about this timing chain from TA Performance on here - I'm curious, why the B (Even Fire) instead of the A (Odd Fire)?
It looks like these chains are single roller and again there are so...
So I have been doing a lot of research and one of the first things I have been told is a must do on my 87 GN with 111,000 miles is to replace the timing chain.
Now in my research there doesn't seem to be a clear winner on the best timing chain for the cars, some guys recommend replacing with...
In response to Patrick's post (quoting it made my post too long):
Thank you for this awesome and very thorough post :) I will try and answer the questions below to the best of my ability and this post actually helps me get to my point and reasoning behind wanting to find a semi-local turbo...
That's my problem, I wouldn't be able to look at the engine bay and be able to tell you which lines are the vacuum lines :( I can point out the basics and have installed intercoolers and wastegates and cold air intakes on cars and understand how cars work but when it comes to knowing all the...
Thanks for the greetings everyone and for all the suggestions :)
In regards to a timing chain, any suggestions on where and which one to get? I found 2 different ones on GBodyParts but am not sure if that's more than I need and I could get something at a local parts store. Also are these...
Unfortunately no :(, the guy I bought it from had been the owner for 5 years and had only put about 2,500 miles on it. He told me the guy he bought it from had removed the cat and that's about all he knew. He also installed a new receiver dryer and he "thinks" the AC system has been converted...
I love cars and have always been into them and have always liked the idea of a owning a rare car, a sleeper car if you will....something unsuspecting to most people :) My dad always loved the grand nationals and I kind of got into them and just recently was able to purchase one :)
It's a 1987...
