What's a better intake to run on a street motor with an edelbrock 500cfm carb: the STOCK 4.1 aluminum, or the edelbrock performer?

Thanks about the advice. So a different brand would be better then eh? I'll have to keep an eye out. I just thought the Edelbrock had decent specs. So what IS the max lift people have used WITHOUT altering the valve guides?

Also, am I going to have hood clearence problems? The 4.1 intake is low rise. add .850" becasue of the adapter, the edelbrock carb, and a factory 4bbl air cleaner.

I thought that all non-computer controlled quadrajets were either 750 or 800 cfm. And if I get one off of a 1970 and earlier car, woudn't it not work properly with my emissions equipment?
