    Gear drive

My machinist set it up years ago. If I remember correctly, he drilled and tapped the T/A block's oil galley plugs for the upper bolts. The bottom mounting points may have been relocated. I believe he mocked up the gears with shims to set the clearance and used the assembly to locate the bottom...

    Howe ported heads

No where near what it should ... 11.50's at 3250lbs. New cam grinder says it's losing 75-100 hp out the exhaust from excessive overlap. Shooting for 10.80's in July heat. GB

    Howe ported heads

I'll second that. Steep valve angles generally require tall ports to help the short side and promote tumble. I'm sure he did it on purpose. Chris has been doing work with Kasse in recent years. My ASA take-offs were done by him for Wegner's shop in the early early '90's. I have contact info if...

looking for opinions on TCI rattler

I've used one for several years now - no broken cranks. I only turn it a camshaft limited 8200. I like the whole pendulum damper concept, although ATI and BHJ both have good reputations. Any aftermarket damper is better than the BMS hub. While it may not lead to a broken crank, how may of us...

Billet head - design / build thread !!

Mike is pretty familiar with those Kevin Self heads as he sold them to me a while back. They were pretty stout in the 80's. Eventually, the splayed valve Chevy stuff would easily out run the Buicks. Rules allowed epoxy, welding, etc to maximize the ports, but prohibited raising the valve cover...

    Stage II pan rail ?

Or it may have been used in an Indy program, where they'd even cut off the starter pad to lower the engine in the chassis as much as possible. GB

Your port plugs are gonna end up a lot thinner than mine ..... hmmm , looks like a good place for a down nozzle! GB

Billet head - design / build thread !!

Sure would like to see a mold of that intake port ! .... GB ... Side note for Mike - Those Self heads went 341 cfm at .700". The port "intruders" are pretty sloppy. I'll see if making some new ones will help

I dig the captured rockershaft concept! What fit are you using between the stand and shaft to maintain a good clamp with the four studs?

Billet head - design / build thread !!

Bump for the 1st S2 update in 20 years! I must say I would have considered raising the valve cover rails and ports, and/or rolling the valves back to 12-14 degrees to help the short side. In Mike's case, however, it'd probably be insignificant, given the 14-71 and alky flow. Holding the heads...

    4.1 Questions.

To make 550 rwhp, you'll need ~ 650 at the crank. With 260 cid limit, you're talking 2.5 hp/ci and around 9500 - 10000 rpm. While this can be done with Stage 2 Buick pieces, I'd seriously consider a splayed valve Chevy combo. That way you could bore up to 4.185" for much better airflow and less...

    Tuning nite-mare...

I don't remember much about the carb'd turbo thing and vacuum plumbing, but if you want to lock out the vacuum advance, unbolt the vacuum can and fab up a little plate to fit in its place which pins the pickup coil still. Be sure to index it as well. GB
