Rear End Upgrade

i have decided but i wont be doing the work till around feb. auburn pro series 30 spline and moser 30 spline axles with a Ta rear Cover and Welded Axel Tubes.

That's what my 8.5 has in it, along with Motive gears, HR bar, HR adjustables and Koni shocks.

Good deep into the tens.

Might check Toms Differential. I found his axles to be one of the strongest. I believe he is located in South Dakota.

Sounds like its a great set up. Its strong enough for 10s but how does it feel n drive in the street. It will be going into my daily driver.

I looked into the TA girdles. I like the one with the full TA logo and racing flags but it says its "low profile". Does it make any difference in performance if its low profile or normal?

No difference in performance at all..

As for feedback, i cant give any at this time. I went with 33spline axles, spool and c-clip eliminators. Going to be switching to a posi unit soon

Ive always been a "fan" so im not too knowledgeable. Now that im at the point of building my own, ive started to do my homework.
Spools and c-clip eliminators are mostly for track cars or at least not recommended for street cars that are daily driven. Correct?

Correct. I got mine for a steal but now want a posi unit for my street car

I have never had any luck with C Clip eliminators, they would always leak. I don't think they are recommended for the street.

It feels like your dad's Buick. :D Great manners on the street!

what gear ratio are u running?
Any specific reason why u went with motive gear?
Reason for asking is that from reading on this forum, I know u have a bad.ass buick and very knowledgeable/experienced.

You give me WAY too much credit. Honestly, I know very, very little compared to many here!

My car is a badass only thanks to the knowledge and skill of Lou Czarnota, with serious support from local Phoenix TR builder Nick Micale.

3.42 gear ratio and Motive is the brand that was recommended by many when I finally sheared 9 teeth off of the stock ring gear at SIR (now Tucson Dragway) one afternoon last year......

Not even a blip since then and I've run her pretty hard many, many times.

I don't know how this 250 plus run engine stays together........

To say the least, its obvious you have a great set up and have been well advised.
I've searched on here and it seems its a good rear end choice when wanting to keep the original 8.5
I hope you dont mind. But im thinking of duplicating your differential recipe (y)
My only concern now is what type of gears will best for my set up (n)

This SW section of this forum consist of guys with great cars. I wish they would be generous enough to give there input on this topic.
Any one knows what meanchicken, spoolfool or any other fast street cars are running?

Or maybe recommend a good dependable shop known for there quality work. Near Los Angeles or its surrounding areas.

MC and SF are likely running the same set up as I am... Lou built their cars, too. ;)

Yeah ive read into it. Makes me want to sale my 84gn just to go purchase a car that Lou would be willing to work on

Not sure if it makes a difference, but all this is actually going into my 84 hurst/olds. Not my GN. I have a thing for g-bodies. This project should be an off body resto with and LS turbo. I've already purchased ride-tech's coil over full suspension and 14" bear brakes from a supporting vender. I would like to continue purchasing from venders who support this forum while building a good quality build. I just lack a bit of car knowledge and need some good guidance
