When I put the rubber gasket around the thermostat. You have to force it in. Than the thermostat housing doesn't fit. So I took the rubber gasket off around the thermostat and installed the housing. The housing fits but even after you tightened it. The housing still has play.
The thermostat just sits up against it's surface. Then the neck with the 0-ring goes in the bore. If it gives you trouble, spread a little grease on the 0-ring and on the inside of the bore. Take a block of wood and a hammer and tap it in easy and square until it stops.
The rubber gasket that goes around the thermostat must be for another application. It came in the box. I may need a bigger o-ring, the neck slides in too easy and has play.
