Hello brothers, working on my first 6.0 build.. junk yard project. . " )..
Need some advise, from my 317 heads to what cam to use.. super chevy Magazine , explain alot of power with just a few bolt on and addition. . Are these, myths true or false.. buget, is 2500, to 3000, or so.. just don't wanna go tooo, much in the build, looking to make a healthy but fast LS2, thank you

That $3K for just the engine, right??
What yr 6.0?
What's the perceived condition, from first look? Mileage? Sitting in a wreck, in a basket??
Depending on a thorough inspection, it may be add a cam, springs, open up the ring gaps, and run it, to a total rebuild.
LOTS of guys get them, pressure wash them, do the external stuff, such as injs, and beat the snot out of them...Your choice.
Suggest you make a visit to LS1tech.com. Take a look at the whole spectrum, from Denmah's JY builds, to hi end stuff. There's a G body thread there, with nearly 1500 posts, that bears looking at.

Contact Texas Speed with your mod list and they will get you straight on a cam.

LQ4 block out of 03 ESV Cadillac. . Dropped the motor in the had of a recommended builder in my area specializes in the LS builds.. Dropped a list of all material needed.. next is ls fast intake , long headers, EFI self tune.. ect.. looks to be in a good start..
Does any one know ,if the stock radiator will work.. or what will? 900 hundred for aluminum dual fan is a little pricy, custom builder ... I'm thinking Camara radiator?

Hello, and thanx alot .. reading those words from you is like "a breath of freash air". I don't mean to bragg but this is my power plant, just been completed this week..
I do have a couple questions . My priority is getting it started, Radiator, gas tank, and harness, serpentine. .
Will the original radiator work from the 87buick?
Gas tank?
Serpentine? I have the ,factory all worked fine..
Harness,?
Hope this isn't too many questions. . I see these customs sites, kinda pricy, but if now respectable way around it then ,shall be it..

Radiator should be fine, I personally use the Fbody but up to you.

Gas Tank? What is your question? If you are asking if the stock fuel system will work, the short answer is no. It will need to be modified to connect to the LS rails for sure! I run a sumped tank with -10AN fuel line and -8AN return and a Weldon Pump. You will probably not need all that.

Serpentine should be no problem.

Harness, I had mine redone to cut out all the junk I did not need. It cost me $300 for the harness rebuild and a program on my PCM. The PCM will get me running but I will have it tuned on a dyno.

My Mann... thanks for the reply. ...

So, radiator is a go for my 6.0..I thought so too, but just needed the green light..

Gas tank,..... I'll look into the one you mentioned. . Or..? Can I buy a gbody tank , and drop a different gas pump.. with the fuel lines you mentioned......?
Serpentine, it's the factory 6.0..
Harness... where did you send urs to? And I have a DIGITAL DASH power Windows & doors.. Is that worked in the harness all so.., ??
Motor mounts. ..I hear backing plates inner fear with the compressor, how can I keep the ac. .? Does the compressor relocate?

Hey , thanks again on taking time , and helping me out,..

Your factory fuel lines will be more than enough for the volume of fuel. You will need to figure out how to go from the factory line connections to an LS type fuel rail. No need to run all new lines unless you need them! I would upgrade to a 450lph fuel pump for sure with a hot wire kit.

Harness, there are tons of them on Ebay. Your choice!

Motor mounts, there are so many different types and styles. I personally used V-8 clams, Moroso 62500-B Solid Motor Mounts and LSX Innovations plates.

As for A/C, I was originally doing a NA swap so I had a custom accessory setup built that moved the A/C compressor up away from the frame. It also allows you to use your truck accessories. Not that expensive either.

That' looks good.....brotha. will that ac compressor hook up to the old one or new set up..? The bolts that run threw the chassis, on the cross members how do I get to them to mount the C mounts , will I have to remove the spring /lower control arms?

A 15mm box wrench will slide through a hole in the front of the crossmemebr to get to the top nuts. Then you can fish an extension with a swivle between the lower arm and frame for the bottom ones.

As for the a/c, since the factory ac compressor is on the driver side, you will need custom lines anyway

Thank you..... ... .been doing alot of cleaning, still have plenty left.. in the engine bay.. here's a couple pic..

First of all, thanks to all who responded and to TBC...
Parts have been coming to the door, brackets ,oil pan, intake manifold/throttle. .ect.... feels like Christmas again.. lol.. My fist installment will be the Fast intake, which will be my first time period with this kind of intake. . Obviously the plenum plate is a need be? Any sensor of lines between the plate and intake manifold ??? Then I come to torque specs? Gaskets look good, they are reusable correct? I'm sure I'm missing a step or a procedure, any help would be appreciated ,thank you all.. TC

When I tore the motor apart I do remember a aluminum hose coming some where from the plenum plate , think it was bolted on top.. then I see the two nipples with threads in side.. has me at a stand still..
Another question factor bolts for the intake manifold, ?? Can do if have'em?
