So I get my T-type out today and Since I have no access to 110 Race fuel I ordered a new chip and change it over to 93 octane and Razor Dual Nozzle Alky system.
When I put it away last year it was 100% fine. New chip should not change any thing on the boost side.

Took it for a ride to get my son from school and Punched it out of the gas station boost went over the 35PSI my gauge shows and I let off It knocked of before I saw the gauge. So I twist the Dial down on my Manual boost controller in the center console Hit it again same thing no change. Dialed it all the way down hit it again Same thing.
At this point Im pissed because I have to get my son and I just drove it nice and got him. he says get on it daddy I CANT! He gets mad.
So I get home I pull the lines off the External gate and expect to find a hole in one. No holes! I hook the Air compressor up and put some air to them with Manual Controller off. Does as it should no air out the one side. Dial it up somewhat it should do small amount out the other side. (Also should not I blocked off the connection at the turbo for these little tests) Next I opened it up and as it should same about in as out. All good there.
Tested off the turbo line to the gate all fine.
So what else do I look for the simple is obviously not it. Should I open the gate up and check inside? Anyone ever have this issue before?
I was told the wastegate is an old ATR external Gate. I cant find any parts for the thing online. Im Thinking the Diaphram in it has cracked maybe? Spring is a 10psi in it so even with the gate shut it should only be that much. I cant dial this mess down its over 35PSI NOT GOOD :(
Any help advice would be great :)
thanks for reading and helping

Check for seized wastegate. I wouldn't send any pressure to the top of the gate till you get it straightened out

I agree with Bison. You have to remove the gate to check it. Use a small air pressure regulator to simulate boost.

So take it off and Put Air PSI to the gate and see what she does sounds like a plan. I dont think its seized up though. As It was doing its normal Flutter thing at half throttle holding boost at about 15psi with a little bouncing never been very consistent at half or so Throttle with this gate was going to change the Spring from the 10psi to a 15psi but have yet to find any for this stupid gate :(

That's not the wastegate that makes the flutter sound. That's boost coming back through the turbo.

Ok thanks didnt know that
When its off I want to put PSI to the top or the bottom and does one side have to be Blocked off? Never done this one before always had working gates lol

Apply pressure to the side port. Leave the top open.

Do you have small air regulator?

You should be able to push the valve in manually as well.

That looks like an old HKS wastegate. Could be wrong but I had one just like it. The valve would get pretty dirty and stick. I would remove it for a regular cleaning, and the car never sat long without being driven.

Ya mine is all Gunked up and stuck :( Are there any good 4 bolt gates I can replace this with . this car sites way way more than it should like maybe get driven 3-4 times per year and only has 37,400 miles on it (Hence why it sets)

Put a stock down pipe, elbow, actuator, and solenoid on and you will never need to worry about it seizing. The factory clearance and material selection for the swing valve is superior to just about anything out there. Most new stuff is complete crap.

We think alike, I was going to say the same thing.

I dont wish to change the dp funds are limited and Id rather just fix this one or replace the Gate Thanks for the advice

The flange on that gate won't fit anything else from what I remember. If you want to stay external, you're going to have to fork over some good $ for a new gate. The cost of a tial or something equal is the same price of a used down pipe. Either that or keep cleaning that thing.

So took this one apart Yesterday its trash its so rusted up its not going to come clean. The flang sides not bad but the Valve is litterlaly rusted to one solid lump. It in no way is coming clean or apart for that mater I hit it with a 10lb sledge on the bench and it went no place even after soaking over night in PB Blasers Found this on egay and ordered one today Looks to be the same thing with a bit larger spring in it maybe. Mine was only 10psi this one 16psi witch is fine as we are running 25+ Psi anyway.

All the dimensions match up so hopefully this will fix it for a bit. Im just broke seeing we just paid the IRS last month for business taxs (like almost $40,000 worth) :(
Thanks guys maybe this thread will help someone else too :)
