I'm Alan from North Mississippi. The wife and I purchased a Buick T-Type in 1987, our first new car. Drove it regularly till about 1995. Did a few years of drag racing from then till about 1999-2000. Best time in the 1/8 was 8:13, would run 8:20 all day. She's been parked since 2009 but I'm ready to get it road worthy again! Plans include pulling the engine for a rebuild, reworking under the hood first. Getting rid of the Powermaster brakes, Baer brake upgrade, Handling upgrade and tires and wheels.

Very cool. Welcome.

How many miles?

I wouldn't touch the bottom end uless absolutely necessary.

Still runs great. Oil pressure a bit low at idle. My first thought was just to do gaskets and seals.

Unless it is leaking or you have a poor leakdown, you should leave it like the factory put it together.
Nothing better than a factory seal on the heads. Finding a trusted builder is hard. Get the brakes squared up and a fuel pump and hot wire in it and polish it up and enjoy it.

Hey Allen , I am just a skip and hop from you . I work in Tupelo and Live in New Albany . I know some real good Turbo Regals guys so if I can help in any way just holla . 662-419-0626 and Welcome to a Great site

Allen, how did you keep it together and running all these years without ever joining this site?

One thing for sure, this site will be a huge help going forward! I've been wrenching my entire life. Grew up on a farm, was a diesel mechanic and later a manager for a large truck leasing outfit, ran a lawnmower shop and currently work on helicopters for a living.

It's pretty stock right now. Did a bit of drag racing with it in the late 90's. Battery is in the trunk, has a fuel pressure regulator. That's about it other than a Intake tube and K&N cone type filter. I'm going to pull the engine to clean up the engine bay and replace some enging gaskets. Looks like I'll be doing the vacum brake booster conversion. Fuel pump needs replacing, so it's getting a pump, hotwire kit and I'll replace the regulator. Haven't decided yet on suspension and brake work to be done. I'm torn between leaving it basically stock or going with a Hotchkiss suspension and Baer brakes. After all that is sorted, it'll hit a paintbooth somewhere.

Airbus helicopters at the Golden Triangle Airport.

GTR, No kidding huh? Back in the day (1987-1990) I worked that air space there (air traffic control / radar controller). Is old King Air 780BF still flying out of Mike 83?

Does Mickey still own the FBO at GTR? I used trade hours for flying time there. Small world.

Haven't noticed that tail #. Mickey sold out about a year ago, perhaps a bit less. I work out on the AS-350 flight line, get to watch a lot of aircraft come and go!
