Woke up to go surfing...only to find my "beater with a heater" was stolen last night. Seriously...this 1994 Toyota Pick up (over 250,000 miles) with dents, scrapes and rust on every panel/bumper somehow showed some value to someone during the night.

I don't get it! Why would someone take the risk of possibly getting $1500 (and that's the high end) for a beater truck?

Either way, I need a truck! Anyone got something they don't want/need? I have cash...nothing over $2000. Needs to be somewhat reliable...don't need another project.

Thanks

Wow. That sucks. But those trucks are stolen often, they are still popular and parts are getting hard to find. Sorry for the loss man, that is shitty. I sold my 89 yota truck a few years back and I miss it badly.

Maybe they stole it for the parts?

maybe...but I don't get it. I mean, the parts for this truck rebuilt are not expensive or rare. I just hope it was some kinda of gang "initiation" kind of thing. And, that it is found soon and in the same condition...love that beater truck. Perfect for driving around in LA, were everyone is more interested in there phones than the other vehicle around them. Or, the occasional debris flying down the freeway...or shopping carts that seem to escape there holding cells and find there way toward the parked cars.

Thanks,

It was going to take all the parts to Spoolfool's Open house tomorrow...now I guess I will shove them in my wife Subaru. She loves me...dunno why?

Sorry to hear this. My brother lost his 4 runner in a similar fashion. When I used to work at Solar Turbines in downtown San Diego Nissan and Toyota trucks routinely got stolen from the parking lot. We were just off the 5 freeway about 20 miles from the border. Wanna guess where they ended up?

Canada...right? JK, I am sure that I will never see it again. My only hope is it was pick up for a robbery and dump somewhere soon after.

Any word yet on your truck?
Oh yea! Call Ralph. I think he has a V4 SLIC for you. They are kick ass!;)
I got one of these from Neal many years ago. Here's what I did to mine.

Thanks for checking in Mike.

The short answer is YES! Just got it back yesterday.

The longer answer is: GOT MY TRUCK BACK! It was 2 miles away sitting in McDonalds parking lot. Everything seems in order and intact, wasn't stripped down. It seems the dirt bags were only interested in the stereo equipment, my floor mats and the wiper blades...yea, that's right, they stole some dirty ass rubber floor mats and two year old wiper blades that needed to be replace anyways...heheeeehaaahah, idiots! Oh, and the stereo equipment they got away with were a pair of $40 speakers from Walmart that were blown out. They attempted to steal the radio but failed and because they failed, the piece of shit, just took the face plate...that's right folks, he (or she) said F@#K YOU, if I can't get it...then you can't have it.

PS, been spending lots of my free time down there between Golden West and 17th street...still looking for ya.

I can paddle out this weekend. What time?
Seapoint st was goin off this morning. I drove past it on the way to work. :(

Glad to hear you got your truck back. :)

Paddled out for about an hour and a half this morning at Seapoint until it got bumpy. Let me know the next time you go out.

The water felt about 60*

WOW! how do you do it? I mean, do you always surf with your eyes closed? Incredible....:D

It looks like you had some fun. I will definitely be going out anytime during the week M-F. Let me know what time works for you.

Wow, that's great news Damon!! Glad you got your ride back!!

Thanks man. I installed new speakers, stereo and most importantly...an ALARM! So, even though any late 90's "shaved" toyota key will open and start my truck, the alarm will hopefully ward off any crack heads looking for an easy opportunity.

Do whatever it takes, those things are stolen more than you can believe. Wire up a kill switch or 2, ignition and fuel. My buddies Toyota had the wiper arms and blades taken once. He then took the arms off the Toyota i ended up buying and I didn't have wipers for a long time :D. They steal everything off those trucks! Rear bumper is another one.
