I'm seriously considering a Hellcat guys

My friend has a '16 auto he's offering to sell me. It has 800 miles, temptation is killing me. My only problem is I get bored really easy and swap cars every year. That's the only hold up, can I get out of it next summer or will I love it so much I'll want to keep it. There seems to be really good deals on sticks, but the autos are still commanding decent money. I want the auto by the way. The car is a dark gray, sun roof, brass monkey wheels and black hood. All stuff I really don't care about besides auto.
I just can't pay retail, it's been the only way I've been able to own a different car every year. I had my C6 Z06 the summer and didn't lose a dime, my turbo 911, hell it may go up and I won't lose any money. I'm just not sure about the HC. I am however going nuts thinking about it.

Do you guys love them? Can you see yourselves being happy long term? It's a toss up now between HC and '17 ZL1, but I don't know if they're going to try to sell them over sticker like they did with the HC's.

I didn't mean to type a book but this has been tormenting me!!!

And you guys aren't helping talking about how fast they are either.

If you buy a Hellcat I don't think you'll want to keep swapping cars every year. I've owned a bunch of cars to this point and I don't plan on ever selling the Hellcat. Maybe your friend will let you borrow his for the weekend then you can see what you think.

I can't possibly see how a 911 Turbo can't make you happy a Hellcat will?

Ask Turbolou.

He bought an HC and then sold his Turbo 911.

From what he tells me, he has absolutely ZERO regrets for doing so. As a matter of fact, he's pretty happy about it.

I've had a ride in both his Turbo Porsche, and a ride in his HC, (both cars would, in his own words, be eaten up by my TB in a 1/4 mile, by the way) and the HC was one HELL of a lot better when it came to "kick it in the pants" fun.

Draw your own conclusions, These cars are only 2 years into manufacture, (Sound familiar?)

I cannot imagine the numbers a new, 10 second basically "stock" car, with a warranty, will be running 5 years from now once the after market is able to begin tweaking the computer on these things.

WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!

DiDo a porsche over a Hell Cat no.no.no.no.. But if you are going to get the H/C get it Xmas. Then we will have one hell of a thread for the New Year !

It's funny about how so many people on here were poo poo'ing the Hellcat when it first came out because it was so heavy, but now so many are seeing what potential these cars have. I always liked the new Challenger because Dodge actually built a REAL fullsize car. The trunk is huge and the back seat room is great. I like the new Mustangs, but they are way too small.

Unfortunately it is just not the car that would work for me. I also didn't have the budget, but I still want one. I really liked the Durango R/T, but would want it beefier. Big motor, big brakes, and better suspension. Maybe one day.

The car is big and comfortable....Even in the back seat. The trunk is huge and the seats will fold down to accommodate skies if needed..lol
All around the best car for any of my needs. I have taken it to grocery shop, cruise, road race (in my mind) on the street with paddle shifts, It has its own drag strip in the dash, stops on a dime, gets great fuel mileage, has kick butt stereo system, and is able to run 9's with minimal upgrades. Much, much more that I am missing, but my point is, this car can do a lot of things for $65,000.... And do them well.

Dodge freaking NAILED IT with the Hellcat!

Here is an interior view. Notice the stitching is perfectly straight and the leather is tight...Among much more good quality within the cockpit.

You guys use launch control yet? I have not, but I was researching a tranny brake for these transmissions and cannot find one. So, I found that feature on youtube and it certainly looks, sounds and acts like a tranny brake.

The main reason I bring this up is because most of these HC owners dont know what good 60ft time is. They are thinking throwing DR's on the rear and getting a 1.6 is excellent for the times they are running. I am of the opinion that this is ridiculous. Launch control to 3500rpm with the correct tire and correct suspension should help tremendously. A true tranny brake with correct weight distribution would be pulling the wheels on these cars. Maybe that will be my goal....1.4x with DR's and suspension work...etc off launch control.

Make no mistake that Car is beautiful! And an engineering marvel at that! Everything about these cars just screams 1986 all over again! And you no doubt own the Modern Day Mac Daddy! Congrats!! Great purchase of a beautiful car that most anyone would be proud to own! I know I would!!

Someone mentioned they could have a heck of a nice street rod for that kind of money and my WIFE said "how much money would you have in a truck and trailer?...So, subtract that from the cost."

Got me thinking too....hmm
"I could have one nice TTA for that money" scenario:
current Truck = 40k
current Trailer = 5k
TTA = 20k
And still not done with the TTA...Nothing is warrantied... Well truck still is....But good point!
I guess I have both scenario's

Well, I pick this up tomorrow. . .

Looks very much like Lou Czarnota's HC........

He has since made some nice little improvements.

Like 5K worth.....

Seems to me these cars are bigger money pits than a TR is......... but with a warranty....... :D:cool:

I would love to have one..........Props to all you lucky bastards!!!!!!!!!

I drove it 5 minutes home and put it right in the garage. The roads are to salty and cold, bummer. There's a little box with gas and brake pedal covers in it.

I've got the hots for a Hellcat, as well. Would require me to sell or trade my GNX, though. I'm afraid I would be kicking myself in the butt if the Hellcats continue to depreciate, which I'm thinking they will.......just don't know how far down they will go.
