So today I was reflecting on my recent experiences as a newer turbo regal owner and thought I should share. I am having some serious issues here. Since the age of 15 I have owned gbody cars, and I am in love with the great body lines. I'm more of an Oldsmobile guy, but I like them all except for Monte Carlos. They are just a little too mainstream for me. I always just liked to have a nice looking solid car and enjoyed cruising around. I've never been "that guy" driving crazy in his "hot rod."
Three months ago I purchased a very clean '87 Grand National with 91k miles on it. Had the common mods completed, but I had to do a little work to get it up to 2017 standards. New TT Chip, and MAF translator. But here is when the problems started happening. I cannot seem to drive this vehicle at a normal rate of speed. The turbo just spools up and next thing I know I'm doing 100mph and seeing all the other cars in my rear view mirror. When on empty roads I just can't pass up the opportunity to fill the air with white smoke and get side ways laying down solid black lines behind me.
So my question is how do you guys cope with this turbo issue? Will I ever be able to cruise around? I find myself searching ways to mount a turbo on my 84 Hurst/Olds. I need one on everything I own!
Seriously though I learned so much from this web site about how to set up my Buick and have it running right. Mostly without even having to post because there are so many great threads on here.
