What's inside of a powermaster pump?

I took one apart once years ago. There is a round disc driven by the motor. That disc is offset from a round area that the disc is inside of. There are slots on the disc. There are carbon tines in the slots that slide in and out radially. As the disc rotates, the tines are held to the outside of...

The Site is now a PITA

This is a slow erratic site now with all the crap ads. I don't plan on being here much, if ever, anymore. I just don't enjoy it. Who needs more ads than even scammer sites throw at you. I just bought some bumper fillers and I didn't get them from a sponsor here. Who needs this? They say they...

Why is the site suddenly blocking ad blockers?

I don't understand how ad blockers cost the site money. How do advertisers know users have an ad blocker? Or, do they decide not to do business if the site does not block ad blockers? I enjoy my ad blocker more for intrusive ads. I don't mind static ads but flashy ads are distracting. When I...

    Help!!

Going back to the original problem. I suggest one or more fuel injectors is squirting. When cold the computer puts a predetermined pulse for a cold engine. But when it warms, the oxygen sensor tells the computer that the engine is lean because one or more injectors is not putting out enough...

    Stock rear shoulder belts.

Maybe a bit off topic but I remember when our 85 was a daily driver and we had the kids in the back without car seats as they got older. The seat belts would ratchet tighter with each bump in the road. I had to make a wooden clamp for the seat belt to prevent it from doing that. (Basically I...

    84-85 vs 86-87 catalytic converter

I measured our stock 85 T-Type and 87 GN. The 85 DP near the cat is 2.530 wide and 2.320 high. The 87 is 2.610 wide and 2.420 high. So the 87 DP is larger. I hope this helps.

What Emissions Components Can I Remove?

Emission items in these cars are not the old emission systems that choked cars in the 70s. I don't think you will get much improved performance removing anything more than the cat. On our 85, the only thing we were forced to do was gut the cat because the innards broke and clogged the exhaust...

    Accumulator ball?

I think they do lose some pressure over time even just sitting around. I think it's because the molecules leak out through the microscopic pores in the rubber bladder and the steel housing. That said, when I park both my cars, since I take them out only occasionally, I tap the brake pedal to...

    performance

How old is spark knock sensor? I've read they can become over sensitive with age. I had that happen on a non turbo car. Ran good when cold but stuttered at part throttle and just didn't have normal power. Changed spark knock sensor and all problems went away.

    84 T Type performance?

My 2 cents. Nice car, it may not be as fast as a hot air but it it still a nice car. We like both our cars. Sitting for 10 years, you may find problems with brake master and slave cylinders. Rust on the rotors and drums too. I see it has the hydro boost so that is a plus. Tires are not safe...

    Oxygen Sensor

In terms of longevity, I had the original sensor in our stock hot air car for 140k miles. I finally replaced it as preventative maintenance. In my other cars with heated sensors, the heater goes bad in a short time. Maybe others know if there is an advantage but I don't know of one.

    vibration-help or opinions needed

If you install hose clamps around the driveshaft, the screw part will act as a weight. You can then put perhaps two on and see if it helps or hurts the situation. You can mark the shaft and rotate the clamps around the shaft to experiment. If it neither makes to improvement or makes it worse...

I hope these help. I see hose sets at Ebay, I didn't look closely as far as are they like my original in the photo.

Is this the Ac plug for 84 hot air?

on our 85t, the connector for the AC clutch come off the harness near the passenger side inner fender. I think would be two wires on the plug. I have two three wire plugs located near my ignition module. One plug is the cam position sensor and the other is crank position sensor.

new fuel pump no fuel pressure

Is your new pump getting voltage? Does it run? There is a relay, maybe that is bad. Fuse is good? Tank has a good ground?

    TC lock up- cause surging?

You can drive forever with it unplugged, you'll just lose a couple MPG on the highway. The TCC just locks the torque converter from slipping. Back years ago, torque converters didn't have lockup clutches. My 2 cents, what you describe is not a symptom of TCC failure. It's more like you are...

Hard starting 84 fuel delivery issue at start

Here is a link to some fuel pressure info. I was wrong saying 38-42, that is the pressure on my 96 V-6. http://www.vortexbuicks-etc.com/basics.htm#Fuel_Pressure_Regulator

Hard starting 84 fuel delivery issue at start

Is there a good ground to the gas tank? Maybe you have 12 volts but a bad ground so the pump runs weak? Maybe check your fuel pressure regulator (FPR)? I'm not sure how to do that but if is allowing too much fuel to flow back to the tank, that might make the pressure too low. 30 psi is too...
