    Official Buicks@Bates 2025 kick-off thread! Show date is Sunday June 8th 2025

Many thanks to Mike, Eric and all their crew! It takes a huge amount of effort to pull this off. I had a great time, it was cool to catch up with everyone and see their latest mods. The weather was amazing, the turnout was huge and the raffle never disappoints!! I'm already planning for next...

2, V6 motors can bring to Bowling Green

The plug in the lifter valley looks like some sort of crack repair. The block appears to have a sleeve in it also. Neal

Does anyone recognize these pistons and rod bolts.

The hole I was referring to was the one in the counter weight. The hole in the rod journal is a bit weird as it appears to be a stock crank. I have seen this done in aftermarket forged cranks to lighten the rotating assembly. As far as the rod bolts go, I blew up the pic and couldn't make out...

Does anyone recognize these pistons and rod bolts.

The pistons appear to be a .040" over cast piston, not sure of the brand. The drilled hole in the counterweight is where material was removed to balance the rotating assembly. Neal

Some hope for us in CA on smog checks?

I'm old and jaded enough these days to not expect that the State of CA, BAR or CARB are going to do anything that will benefit car enthusiasts. Sound negative but just been real. 😞 When it comes to this kind of stuff the glass is indeed half empty. Neal

Hotchkis Front UCA & Rear LCA

I live in So Cal. I'm interested if they are still available. I don't need the springs though. THX Neal

Some hope for us in CA on smog checks?

Im not holding my breath. I still remember when it was supposed to be a rolling 20 years. Needless to say it went about 1 year form 1974 to 1975 and they changed their minds. Neal

Can someone help identify this crankshaft

It appears to be an early Chinese forged crank based on the fact is has a knurl for a rope rear main seal. It's will be 3.40" stroke. Neal

Nick Micale. Rest in peace my friend.

My wife and I were saddened to hear the news yesterday. It made me sit back and think how long I knew Nick. I'm pretty sure we first met at the GS Nationals in 1995 where he was the race director. He was a great guy and a founding member of the Turbo Buick community. I'm grateful to have called...

    How rare is this?

Your block appears to be a bit earlier as it has stepped main registers for the #2 and #3 main caps as well as a production style #4 main cap. Neal

    How rare is this?

Here are a couple of pics of one I had a couple of years ago.

    How rare is this?

Unusual but not rare to be honest. I've had several of them, other than the casting # it's a very early On Center block as you said. What's nice about these is the wet sump oil pickup provision. As far as it's value, I'm not honestly sure $4k as a guess. Neal

Whats this stage 2 pro-street, 1400hp car worth?

It's sad to say but the market for a V6 powered race car which is for all intents and purposes an unfinished project is very small. They'll have a hard time selling it even at pennies on the dollar. It would probably make most sense to sell the car and engine separately. Neal

Spoolfool's annual open house, TB swap meet and taco party time. Saturday 10-7-23

Mike, I appreciate the kind words. I planned to come but had flash backs of when I drove my GTO to an earlier GTG and had to park in the adjacent lot. I still have a soft spot for Turbo Buicks and and the misfits who own them. I'm sure my next Regal is just around the corner. I'm...
