3" Buick Tach
I just traded for a NIB one.I was wondering if any one had a pic of one installed in a GN? I am not sure where the plug will plug in at and where the best place to mount the key switch is. The direction are very vage on the mounting and wiring.

They look like crap. How much you want for it? Those things are way cool. I had the bigger one years ago in my gs.

My key switch isnt mounted. Couldnt figure a place I liked it, so its just ran to the glovebox, open the glovebox to switch they key position.

My biggest question is. Is there a plug under the dash some where the plug for the tach will plug into?

no.. in most tach installations, the green wire goes to the tach plug under the hood- someone will surely have a pic.. the white wire goes to the "lamps" slot in the fuse box, the red goes to the "ign" slot in the fuse box, and black goes to a solid ground somewhere under the dash.

as for the key switch- i'd find a 3 position rotary knob to put in place of the key and stash it in the ashtray or something.

Where the hell did you find that? Pretty cool...

A friend of mine from years ago saw me and a friend in our GN's sitting in sam's parking lot.He had bought the tach back in the 90's thinking one day he would get him a GN.It never happened lucky for me.He came up to us and started telling us about it and asked if we could help him sell it.I went to his house and saw it and just had to have it.

It seems to be made for our cars so I hate to start cutting stuff off of it if its a plug and play.

No it's not made for "our" cars. It's made for Buick racing applications, hence the key. And the connectors are designed to plug into Buick Motor Sports ignition modules (which we don't have).

You'll have to read the directions to figure out which wire goes where. The tach signal wire will go into the engine bay and connect to the tach connector, which is the green connector just behind the alternator.

Don't have one myself.. just remembered seeing that keyed switch in the picture I attached. If you can't figure it out, you might want to hit up Otto, I believe he installed it in the car pictured.

Here's a picture of how I installed mine. I don't use the key so I just tied it behind the dash. tachdash.jpg I just clipped off the connectors and used the wires to install like any Autometer tach. I've had mine for 12 years and it is a cool tach! Paul

That looks really sh!tty....remove that ugly thing, just mail it to me and I will dispose of it .

Looks great man.
