I have a '85 CAMARO RS sitting in my backyard, the mirrors look the same as a monte carlos. Mostly all g-body parts are identical ( cutlass, monte carlo, regal..) would these mirrors be a direct swap? Has anyone here done it? What mods do I have to do? Heres a pic with them installed

They're going to look dumb if you bolt them into the existing holes. Take a look at a 86-88 MCSS or ElCamino and you'll see they fit further up on the door than the old bullet mirrors. The front edge needs to be even with the windshield.

FWIW I dont think the Camaro mirrors look good on a G-Body. The angles dont match the windshield angle at all. They look like aftermarket mirrors tacked on by a Mullet. But that's just me.

Seems to me somebody posted a pic of them on a GN. Maybe do a search?

are Camaro and MC mirrors the same thing ??? I have both but to lazy to go up in the 200* attic now

Camaro mirrors will not fit (It would be nice since you could have electric mirrors), you'll have to find the Monte SS or El camino SS mirrors to fit as they have the correct angle for the door. I ran the SS mirrors for 4 years and no one noticed but me that they sat too far back. Recently when I had the shaved door handle area repaired I had the mirror mounting holes filled in and moved the mirrors about 6" forward. The holes are lined up exactly where a body line is, so your body man better know what they are doing! Plus there is a metal brace towards the front of the door where I moved my mirrors. I'll try to get some pix tomorrow while its out of the garage.

For now, you can see here how much further forward the mirrors are.

Yep. Chevy G-Body only. And I might add another tip on installing these on a Regal. The stock Regal mirrors mount on the body line of the door. This little contour is filled in by the mirror gasket. The Chevy doesn't have a body line in this area so no need for a fancy mounting gasket. In other words you need to mount the mirrors a smidge below the body line of the Regal.

Pics of monte mirrors, in correct (semi-correct, anyways;) ) location
