The braking ability of a bus is not very good at 12-13 tons empty. I've driven professionally and also have my passenger stamp. My 18 wheeler will stop much shorter at 40 tons than any buses I've driven for church's. I've scared myself silly a couple of times driving a bus. Once I ended up driving down the sidewalk rather than hit a car who pulled out and stopped in front of me and the bus was empty, I was driving to the pick up. I believe city style buses are really not designed to be driven over 35-4o mph.
