busted fuel return line

My fuel pressure was high and I disconnected the return line at the junction under the power steering pump (where the rubber line goes into the metal line. Well I accidentally drilled through that metal line (don't ask) and now I want to screw on a fuel fitting to the rubber line and use a another rubber hose to connect that to the broken metal line.

The thread to the rubber hose is like a fine thread. Standard fuel line fittings at the parts store won't work. I need help to what I thought was to be an easy fix. I know I can cut the end of the rubber line but don't want to do that. Thanks

If you could buy a used fuel line that goes from regulator to frame, would that solve your issue?

You didn't specify drilled into the main frame metal line, or the one that you can replace...,

It's called Saginaw fitting

The main frame line running from power steering pump on back, not the one from the regulator. I doubt I can find a used one. It's either the 3 piece set from Kirban or nothing. I thought a 1/4" fuel line repair kit would work but I can't seem to find them either. 5/16" or above, no problem

Kirbans sells a kit to replace the lines you are talking about.

If it was the hard line that comes out by the power steering pump:
http://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/452/STAINLESS+STEEL+UNDER-CARRIAGE+FUEL+LINES+(3)+KIT+#7204.html

If it is the ones that go from that area to the fuel rail:
http://www.kirbanperformance.com/product/228/STAINLESS+STEEL+FUEL+FEED+LINE+and+STAINLESS+STEEL+FUEL+RETURN+LINE+#6957.html

I think the ends are saginaw fittings so most fittings you find won't work.

You're right about about that. Thanks for the link. I may just go with these braided lines that people are talking about in other discussions.

I cut the return 5/16" line several inches from regulator, use a compression fitting -6 and braided line to a union on factory line or use a compression fitting on factory line since you damaged it. Pretty easy.

I have a line if u need one . Pm me for a pic just need to verify your age first ...jk lol

That may be a good on some boards, but Shane will not be happy if he he views this, not a good idea to post stuff like this as we this board considered "family" friendly.
Really Nick ? I will take it down but they aren't nude and I thought it was a great picture of the fuel supply line that I've had on the shelf for awhile .

It wasn't meant to be shown to a kid I was under the assumption everyone on this thread where grown men or at least the age to drive a car . Anyway if you need the fuel line bud shoot me a PM . I'll remove the awesome picture

If you are looking at changing the line. Buy the line kit from Racetronix that Full Throttle sells.

It's a factory replacement and is E85 compatible if you want to run that in the future. I personally would stay away from rubber braided lines, eventually they will emit the smell of gas and stink up the garage when you park the car in there. I have these same lines on my car, and the only way you can tell that I was driving my car now, is by the heat of the car after driving it. Not the smell.

This is exactly what I ended up doing. Thanks!

Old thread but wanted to chime in. My front fuel lines from the A arm up to the regulator got replaced with Kirbans years ago (rubber section looked murdered), (2) years later the rubber was cracking again and I ended up cutting open the saginaw fittings and sliding them off the stainless steel lines, (5/16 return and 3/8 supply measuring the outside diameter) with the rubber sections. I went to the local advance auto store and put fuel injection line on both with (3) hose clamps per side of junctions and no problems for the last 5 years or so. Now with installing the latest fuel pump which is a DW unit I'm having a issue getting the fuel pressure to drop with removing the vacuum line. Looking around on the board I see many are plumbing in at the regulator and running the 6AN line back to the tank. I'm going to plumb in at the stainless steel line at the A arm, put a compression fitting there https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CHHZJ2I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that will connect to a another fitting which is a 6AN male to 1/4 NPT Female http://www.ebay.com/itm/330376780102?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT then we have the teflon line connection which is simply a 6AN straight hose adapter http://www.ebay.com/itm/121788306322?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT and of course the hose itself the superior PTFE black braided stainless steel line (I bought 17' so I would have plenty to loop it around on top of the tank to accomadate lowering the tank in the future) http://www.frozenboost.com/stainless-steel-teflon-fuel-lines/stainless-steel-brake-lines-p-1240.html. On the tank side of things I plan on using the same fittings (will be cutting the (center one) return line on the fuel sender assembly behind the factory restriction). The 6 AN line inside diameter measurement is 5/16", so if I was on a tight budget I would skip all the fittings and triple hose clamp it on each end.

My problem was the Accu-Fab regulator needed rebuilt. Ordered rebuild kit from them directly for $33 delivered.
UPDATE: The next day fuel pressure problem returned, put the 6AN line on from Kirbans aftermarket stainless steel lines before A arm back, all is good now.
