Filter bypass port cleaning

What is a good way to clean this bypass port in the oil pump cover? The poppet looks hard to remove / service. Will brake cleaner eat the plastic?

I'd push it down and shoot parts cleaner and compressed air through it.


Then again I've never seen one get dirty either so I've never cleaned one.



If you're really dedicated, I guess you could grind out the stakes, remove the assy, clean, and restake it. Probably won't do anything worthwhile but you'll risk messing up the oil filter adapter.
