How do you take grill out ?

I want to paint my grill, but can't figure how to get it removed from the front end.

Can someone please post detailed instructions ?

From memory here is what you need to do....

1. detach retainer springs from the bottom corners of grill
2. detach the flexable dust/air shield ( I just cut the plastic retainers and bought some new ones.
3. There are I think three or four bolts at the top, inside of your grill that bolt to the header panel that you will need to get out.

Once you do all of these you should be able to manuever the grill out of the header panel.

Take your time and be carefull not to screw up the radiator or header panel paint on the way out.

it's a tight fit trying to "roll out" the grille from the bezel (on 86-87 TR's).

to keep the bezel & surrounding paint from getting all scratched up: after removing the grille's bolts, place masking tape on all the bezel's surfaces where contact might occur.

I like the 3M Blue tape, it leaves no residue if it's removed within a reasonable time (up to a few weeks, as long as it's not exposed to sunlight).
