Map Kpa To Map Psi

ok here goes

if around 100 kpa is 0 vacumn and boost ,
then anything under 100 is vacumn , but if you convert it to psi it says 14.5 psi, which i think is 14.5 which is equal to atmopsheric pressure
so if 158 kpa=22.916 psi then in order to get the correct psi above atmospheric pressure you have to subtract 14.5 from 22.916 which gives you 15.4 psi
so 158kpa is 15.4 psi in the f.a.s.t. tables

am i right ? let me know guys
thanks

I think you can also use 0.145 as a multiplier. But you're right above.

100KPa X .145=14.5psi

Re: ok here goes

Yes that is correct, 100 kPa is approximately atmospheric pressure, less than that is a vacuum, more than that is positive "boost" pressure.

but if you convert it to psi it says 14.5 psi, which i think is 14.5 which is equal to atmopsheric pressure

Atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14.7 psia. 14.7 psia is the same as 101.325 kPa 14.5 psia is the same as 100 kPa.

so if 158 kpa=22.916 psi then in order to get the correct psi above atmospheric pressure you have to subtract 14.5 from 22.916 which gives you 15.4 psi
so 158kpa is 15.4 psi in the f.a.s.t. tables

Close but not quite.

158 kPa x 14.7/101.325 (or 158 x 0.145 as fast4d pointed out) = 22.9 psia as you figured out above.

Then 22.9 - 14.7 = 8.2 psig "boost" pressure. Not sure how you got 15.4, finger probably slipped on the calculator or something :)

thanks john
yeah it was a slip of the fingers , i see now how it works

i wish they would have just put psi instead of kpa , it would have been easier, but i guess it was a programming issue

thanks guys

I might have missed something, are you talking about a Accel
DFI or a Speed Pro system? Or neither?

The Speed Pro system can change the dash board to read PSI.
My old DFI system would not and I agree was a pain.

Take Care
