Question about Turbo Compresser wheel backing plate.

I purchased a new center section from Postons and I noticed when I took it out of the box that the backing plate is pitted pretty bad.I question this because my stocker is nice and smooth.Maybe they sandblast it?Does this at all affect airflow?Maybe Im thinking to much here.Thank for any replies.The center section in question comes from Limit engeneering ,that is the box it came in.Thanks

AS long as the compressor housing is sealing properly against the backing plate,it shouldn't cause too much problem.
However,seeing as you paid for it,I would call Poston's or John Craig and inquire.Get what you paid for.How *bad* is it?

The surface around the impeller whell is bad,it looks like the cratered moons surface.I am just concerned because my stocker is nice and smooth.I thought myabe they blast it,because thats what it looks like.I guess I have to contact John is probably the best bet since it came from him orignially.
