turbo question

U know those two half moon pieces that are held onto the exhaust housing by six bolts on turbos, and usually have the bracket for turbo sheilds attached? Does anyone know if this serves a purpose and if its ok if i reinstall my turbo without it and just put slightly shorter bolts in to fill the holes? if not, anyone know where i can get this peice? i just need one half. thanks

I believe you are talking about the two piece bracket that holds the turbine housing onto the center section.

I would NOT remove these from the turbo. If you do, I think you'd risk movement which could cause the turbine wheel to contact the housing and destroy the turbo.

Any dead stock turbo should have them.

Used parts vendor perhaps.
