Will a 6466 work w ATR dp wg?

My mechanic seems to think I may not be able to open up the waste gate hole big enough to keep the boost down. Has anybody run this turbo with a full ATR header, dp & exhaust?

If I have to change to internal wastegate, is there any DPs that will fit around the ATR header, most the vendors I've found so far said not? I can go to a mini starter & aftermarket A-arms if that helps make it fit.

My build sheet:
250" motor
GN1 alum heads, mild porting of the runners
ATR headers & exhaust
BGC intake
Alky kit
Mega Squirt
6466 turbo
Roller cam, thinking 214/214

I have a few side questions, just didn't want to start a new thread.

What boost level is considered normal to make the motor last long time on pump/alky? The guy that is putting my car together is not a Buick specialist, but has a dyno a mile from my house & I was thinking of having him tune to say 24psi. Then hopefully take the car to Hartline to take it the rest of the way to what ever reliable level is(26-27psi), but don't know if he has a dyno or how he tunes his cars.

If I need a mini start, which one do u guys recommend?

Should I go with a 84 or 95lb injector for this motor?

What head gasket should I use?

This car is 99% street driven.

I just put a LT1 corvette starter (1996) on my car and love it.

I'm not a turbo expert but my engine doesn't breath anywhere near as well as yours. I have a 6266 with a HD gate. Slight enlargement of the puck hole and radius got boost to where I get 7 psi with the wastegate unhooked. Radius made the biggest difference

What is a safe boost level? Well first boost is just a number boost does not hurt motors.. A bad tune will... Start small and increase the boost very slowly and make sure you add fuel with the increase in boost. Good luck.. Going fast takes time and patients.. :)

You have a nice build sheet there.. My new build is the same except its a stock stroke with full race port gn1. And I have the 214/214 fast ramp cam from fullthrotle .. Is the the same 214 your thinking about getting?

Tune is the most important part of the application. Bad tune and bye, bye motor.... Doesn't matter how good/strong the build is. Have an experienced Buick person tune it. Also, why would you take all that time and $$$ to build a motor only to have a inexperienced person tune it? I'd be real careful doing that. Good luck.

The ATR gate will work just fine. I have one on my car. You may need 3 washers behind the spring to keep it from opening too soon but it works just fine.

Your build is not too different from mine. I run 20 psi on the street using pump gas and alky. That is with 20 degrees of timing on the top end. I am not afraid of much on the street either.

My turbo is a little bigger than yours but this should give you a good idea of where you can go. You can run 26 or 27 psi on the street but the tune better be spot on.
