My 87'GN is showing no oil pressure. No oil is coming out of the pushrods. But it will still start! I didn't think they would start with no oil pressure. Comments? Thanks, R.B.

if you have the stock oil sender in place (at pass side of timing cover near bottom ) and its working its only function is to back up the power feed to the fuel pump
it will to allow the pump to run even if the fuel pump relay should fail so long as there is over 4psi of oil pressure,
if you dont have pressure or the sender and the relay does work car will still run just fine run , you could even remove the factory sender and still run the car as most remove that sender to install aftermarket oil gauges

what are you usng to read oil pressure

if mechanical those nylon lines can get pinched shut if overtightened , if electric check the wiring and verify gauge works by grounding the wire attahed to the sender

Brand new electrical gauge. To check, you mean take the one wire off the sensor and ground it. What will it show?

gauge should go full scale ,
if it doesnt then check wiring , if still no than gauge is bad
if it does go full wire and gauge are working then possibly sender is bad

if you still find no oil pressure get a mechanical gauge hooked up
you dont want to run without oil pressure
hopefully its just the gauge ,
