Would 009s be ok on a stock turbo? I know it's overkill, but I need new injectors and was thinking about flowmatched 009s from racetronix.. + a new chip for them...

any thoughts?
next mod will be thdp, just trying to get the car up to specs right now.

right now i have "fuel system + intake + headers + 3" dp"

With the right chip you will be just fine.
You should consider the 50s or 57s if they are in
your price range.

I dont want to get too wild, but i'm not too fond on injectors.

What would be better about the 50 and 57s? The 50s are only $7 more and I would rather save and get those if they are worth getting now..

Would I see any performance with just injectors?

For $7 more go with the 50s I have heard they have a better spray pattern plus they will give you more room to grow.
You never think you will want to go much fast but you always will.
They will not make you any faster now then the 42.5 would.

If i ever wanted to get a new turbo or anything I could, thanks for help!

If I could do it again I would get the 50's TRUST ME - I'm still thinking about swithching.

77 ,

your chip builder will match the injectors to your specs.

you can run 50 pounders on an all stock car, so long as you have a good chip maker...

Give eric@turbotweak.com an email he will explain.

The 009 are multidisc nozzle injectors, I believe the 50's are pintle nozzles (same as stock)....

You will have to tune more with the 009 to get rid of the tip in stumble..(was a very annoying ordeal for me)

I beg to differ , i have the 009's and not one problem had them with a stock turbo and now have them with a TA 61 and not one problem, you of course have to have your chipped burned correctly and 50's are just over priced 009's, this is what i have heard anyways and if you want more you can turn up the fuel psi, but i have not one complaint about the 009's

I have heard of people that don't get the tip in stumble with 009, I was not one of them

Wow. Here's my .02...

Stock engine? Stock turbo? 57 pound injectors? WHY?

Yes, I understand the upgradeability of larger injectors, but you're REALLY forcing yourself and your chip burner into a corner with a huge injector like that, with such a mild combination. These cars came with an injector nearly HALF that size from Detroit, and a mid-12 second car can still be easily fed by them. Some have gone ino the 11's, as well.

Before I'd make a blanket injector recommendation, I'd want to know how the car is actually used. Like most stock cars, are you driving it on the street, on pump gas, 99% of the time? If so, be smart. Go with a reasonably-sized injector, which will provide you a much greater overall experience, will idle correctly, etc.

Unless you're consistently running in the mid-to-high 11 second range, I'd wholeheartedly recommend the tried-and-true 36# Blue Tops. They have a fantastic idle, and have what is quite possibly the best spray pattern of any available injector upgrade, throughout the duty cycle range. Great throttle response, great atomization, all of it. And your chip burner will thank you.

...but that's just me...

It's mostly street, but a little track on weekend :D
I want to mod it a little, but not go crazy yet.

I think thats the way i'm going to go to...

I know a guy who works at ford parts I wonder if he can get some flowmatched blues... Would I have to get the 868 or you think he could get blues?:

Excellent ET for you mods.
What 60ft are you getting on the drag radials?

I'm not familiar with the 868's, so I couldn't say. I know that the supply of Ford OE Blue Tops is getting scarce and expensive, though. I remember buying a couple sets with 1,000 - 2,000 miles on them in '97 for $75 - $80.

I'm guessing you mean me, John? :)

On the 11.48 pass, it grabbed a 1.62 60'. Earlier in the day, it went 1.59.

I didn't mean to ramble earlier, it's just that in the last 8 years that I've built and raced Buicks, we seem to have moved away from the general mindset of kicking @ss using as many stock parts as possible, and ensuring 'no downsides' when upgrading. I still laugh when I see 206/210/218 degree cams going into 11-12 second cars. Then I weep.

When I got my first Buick, there was something WRONG with you if you lived in NE Ohio and your car didn't run 11's with about $1000 in parts. :)

I don' t know who you have been talking to but this statement is waaaayyyy off and the price difference isn't that much. 2 different injectors, 2 different manufacturers, 2 different spray patterns, 2 different flow characteristics. 42.5 have been known for a long time to be rich on the bottom and lean on top... true with the new age of chip burning, drivability is much better but overall I think 50's would be a much better choice. And for those who think it is overkill to buy 50's or 57's with a stock turbo....IMO its not. these engines dont stay stock for tooo long and its better to research and buy once then be stuck with $400 dollars worth of injectors and $xxx's of chips later on. TRUST ME I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE. just my 2 cents take it or leave it.

just my .02......

I went through the same debate when I bought my injectors and my combo is fairly stock....I bought the 50's from racetronix and a turbotweak chip. Im real happy with them.

This is in no way to say the blue tops are not enough...they probably are.I was just glad to get those worn out, dripppy, smelly 110,000 mile stockers out of there.Idles nice, even picked up mileage.

Chris:)
