My car has alot of mods,Atr pitbull pipes, adj wastegate, cold air intake, fuel pressure reg, larger inlet bell, and other stuff, i took it to the track for the first time and the best i could do was a 14.6, i have cleaned my intercooler and i have 116k miles,i think my problem was traction, iwould build about 1 psi and as soon as i let off the brake my rear tires would dissappear,i am running 245/60/15 dunlop gt on the rear but they are old, they weret giving me any traction, also i was running a stock chip,a guy at the track with a sick tta told me that i have a late production car and that some had a revised slower chip,i swapped in a pro mod chip today and the ecm said that it was reman, the car runs great and it has been tuned up,is 14.6 a good time to expect with my tires spinning though 1st gear and a little of second,if i took it eaay i was doing 14.8 with no spining but it would bog down, let me know whatcha think, i just think its traction problems, drag radials soon, does anyone know if a 275/60 will fit the stock rims and in the rear wheel wells? i know that was a long run on sentence but thanks for any help guys and gals

What mph were you running???

Time comes with traction, mph comes with power...Better traction, better time, but mph won't vary as much, whether you have traction from the start or not...

I'm sure you could have lowered your times by coming out at a dead idle or power brake to about 1500 rpm. Unless the track is treated, you can't come out with any boost with street tires. Also, don't know how you shift it but I just leave mine in drive. Manually shifting generally gets slower times. If you want to go a lot faster and not spend much money, get an alcohol kit on there.

Revised slower chip:confused: first i've heard of that!

How much boost you running?

That MPH is equal to that ET?

I ran 14.1 @ 94. Car is stock except big mouth intake. Ran it on a 245 16" Eagle GS-C. 2.1 60'

Is my MPH wrong for my ET?

my car stock (before the little things i added in my signature) did a 14.8 @94 mph. my car is also POSI'less. taking off from the light from an idle is very very very sad feeling/looking in a GN :(

sounds familiar...

Your puzzlement sounds a lot like what had happened to me as well. after putting on a few mods such as headers , free flowing exhaust, and a ram air set up....no improvements...then I decided to buy an ATR 190ltr fuel pump. the pump came with a new improved fuel sock with the special plastic innards to keep the fuel sock from collapsing. the moment the old factory pump came out...I found the sock completely collapsed and clinging to the pump inlet. IMMEDIATE improvement!! sounds like an involved process to take down your fuel tank just to check your fuel sock...but its just my 2 cents. HTH:)

I believe that a 275/60 should fit as I think some members run the Nitto 555s in this size, though 275/50 is probably more common.

ditto

yes 275/60's will fit fine. I'm running the 275/60/15 on 15x8.5 cragar drag stars on BGC drag radials..:)

First of all do you have a scantool? Where were the 02's and was there any knock.

If you don't have a scantool quit racing your car till you get one. Without on your flying blind.

Is the fuel pump stock? If so you need to address this.

As far as not launching hard without a posi - my car cuts 2.0's on street tires and low 1.7's on Drag Radials.

Quick, Littlesixsteve and I were there. We tried to see your car in the staging lanes but you were moving up so we didn't get to see ya. My first question is do you have posi? You were spinning them for sure about 60' out. Next I would do a complete spring cleaning. Do you have a scan tool? If not get one today! Next on the list is hows that fuel pump? If you don't have a new high volume one with a hot wire kit put that on the immediate list too. You absolutely don't want to run lean because of a weak fuel pump. I don't know what those chips are. I would get a Thrasher or one from Turbo Tweaked. Steve has one of those and he likes it. I bet you'ld see a nice improvement with getting those items lined up. Also with that mileage you should be thinking valve springs and timing chain too. Hope to see you up there again some time. BTW did you see that goon in the Viper run a 15.1?

Thats leaving @ zero vacuum and rolling into the pedal. Passenger side air bag helps big time - I run 30 psi in it. No Snubber.

I have yet to get a good 60' with my Bilstiens' and ATR sway bar - but I think I've got it figured out.

When you upgrade your fuel don't forget to change the fuel filter.

The fuel filter is on the inside of the frame, driver's side just in front of the rear tire.

Besure to have a container, like a drain pan, to catch the fuel in the filter.

i dont have a scantool and i dont have the money for it right away,i do however have a posi and a hot wired stock pump bumped up to 45 psi with the vac line off,i think i was trying to hard on the launch,i should have just eased into it, i really wanted to get into the 13's officially my worst run was .572 r/t,2.53 60 ft,14.945 1/4@ 94.13 and the best was .885 r/t,2.591 60 ft, 14.605@93.99, the fastest speed i went was 95.39 with a 14.7921/4

Hotwired stock pump isn't going to cut it.

If you don't have money for a scantool then yo probably don't have money for headgaskets. Find a close by "Turbobuick" friend that is willing to help you tune and/or borrow a scantool.

13's will come easy - but right now your flying completely blind.

BTW are the valve springs original? New springs will really wake the car up.
