I have a 1986 GN I had a friend ask what’s the difference between the two? All I no is the chrome grill on the 86 and they were fewer 86s than 87s. Anything else you guys no of ? Thanks Greg

door pull straps grey vs black

Power steering reservoir cap goes on in different directions

All 86s had aluminum bumper insert supports, 87 were hit or miss with aluminum and steel

Different computer chip

Grille of course

Hvac plastic lines routed in different location over heater box, vs in front of heater box

All I can remember at this time.

Didn't all 87 GN's come with posi an were hit an miss in 86.

The 86's I've seen including my own seem to set a little lower than the 87's? Me and buddy have compared two low mile 86 and 87 cars bone stock and the 87 sets a tad higher. Anyone have info on this?

Different cruise control servos (large ones on '86 small on '87) different code knock modules (BLO on '86, HKP on '87), different wiring harness in the cabin, metal clips on the computer female plugs on '86, plastic on '87 ;)

Posi was an option when I ordered my '86. I remember hearing posi was standard on T-types and GN's in '87, but that must be false.
Correct. My 87 GN does not have the G80 posi option and the old peg leg burnouts confirmed it. Lol. I have since corrected that with an Eaton posi.

My 87 came with an open diff. Post wasn’t standard. My door pull straps are grey. Were they blacken the 86?
