are torque converters 200r4 the same for as a grand national vs a non turbo car? is there a difference between them.

Slightly higher stall in the D5 converter used in the 86-87. Not sure about the hot air cars.

I've heard all the turbo cars have more stall than the non-turbo cars.

If I remember right an na regal has 800-1000

The 2004R D5 (Turbo cars) torque convertor had a stall of 2200 to 2400 rpm

Without that stall the car will be a dog. A friend of mine ordered a n/a converter by mistake for his GN. Thing couldn't launch for crap. D5 minimum.

Just a number gm gave the stall converter to note what car it goes into.

It's stamped all around the outside of the converter. D5 is the stock converter for Turbo Buick apps.

id use a ptc 10" 2800 for a car that's gonna stay stock or very near stock if the trannys already out...
