I'm just curious how the install went for others using the larger 3.5" THDP. I read some threads on the topic, but most refer to the 3" version. I got my 3.5 in last night after removing the convertor heat sheild. But it was sitting right on the frame, so out it came. I had installed ES body mounts, and will be installing the HR motor mounts this evening. Hopefully they will lift the motor up enough to clear the frame....hopefully.

Anyways just wondering what others install experiences were with this pipe. Anyone have it drop in?

Mine was also close. It had clearance when sitting. But when the engine torque it would hit the A-Arm a little. It made a very small dent. That was the only fitting problem and it was really not that big of a deal.

Excellent news Kevin. Say where is the sweet spot on the PTE-54 efficiency wise. I've not come across a compressor map for our turbo. Thanks.

BTW was your time in your sig on that 101/alky setup or race gas?

With the aluminum heads I've run 20-25 with great efficiency. With stock irons i was running 25-29. All times are run on 101 and alcohol (as does the car on the street ;))

Kev :)

I had the same prolem with mine. Touching the frame rail. I did a little clearancing only to find that when the exhaust was fully ho
hooked up it cleared on that side but now hit the floor board !!! Im going to play with the exhast hanger a bit see if i can split the difference.

Oh and i have a HR poly drivers mount and a fresh stocker on the pass side.

Got the driver's side mount in last night. Pulled the passenger's mount but I will have to pull the starter to get it to drop out. I think I'll clearance the lip on the firewall while the DP is out. Then hopefully all will be good as I really don't want to have to start persuading my nice shiny ceramic coated pipe to fit. :(

BTW, thanks for the compliment on the site Dave. Your build described on your page looks awesome. Something like that is in the plans for me too....in a couple of years. ;)

Impressives times for your combo. What does your GN weigh with you in it??

TIA,
Alex

Well I put the motor mounts in. They did make a difference. Now the pipe still sits on the frame and I have maybe 1/16" clearance with the lip on the firewall. I just had to have the 3.5 " pipe...

Now where did my hammer go? :p
