Looking to run mid to high 10's with a new turbo, injectors, etc. What turbo/combo would you guys rec. for me? Looking to get any one of those turbos (te45a, 70, gt67..etc).

Talking to Limit,they dont reccomend a q trim for a driver.Youd need at least 3800 to spool it.I know others are gonna say they spool their 76gtq with a small convertor but this is what I was told.

If it were me id go with a 45a.They are not out of date.Many have run deep into the 10s with one.:)
 
What about the GT67? How does that compare with the TE45a. I will be bumping up my stall accordingly to whatever I need to with the turbo.
 
The GTQ wheel will only hurt spool by ~100-200 rpms or so, and this is on a Supra which is only a 3.0liter and already known for laggish spooling. On our torquey 3.8's...doubt you would see any difference. Also the GTQ wheel is much more efficient and will make more power at any boost pressure vs the TE45, which is just a ~T66 p-trim.

I went from a TE45A to a GT67. I spoke with John Craig about the 2, and heres what he told me: The TE45A was built for one of the classes at BG to allow a bigger turbo but still fit in the rules. It can accomplish your goals, but I see no reason to run it when a GT67 will do a little better. I'd exclude the 70, its not neccessary for your needs. That said, I haven't noticed much of a difference between the 2 on my car, but its hard to "feel" 1 or 2 tenths on a fast car. I'd go with the 67.
 
any of those turbos would get you into the 10's provided you can launch it hard and your car is of "normal" weight....mid 10's would be another animal.......gonna need better heads and cam prolly (or lighter car)

the GT-67 would be the turbo of choice

oh, a single 340 won't cut it and neither will 009's...double pumper and 72's recommended (you will be running very high boost.......)
 
Yeah, I am just torn between turbos. I already know I am going to get Reds XP double pumper, 72# injectors, bump my stall to a 3400 or 3600, new cam, and new heads (people run 10's with stock heads?).
 
The TE45a used to be a p trim t66 turbo, but people have posted that John has recently switched to the GT67 compressor wheel but kept the turbo name the same, so that would mean that a new TE45a and a GT67 turbo are now the same (assuming a p trim on the GT67 which is the most common turbine).

Not true, the Gt67 uses the new 4" inlet/ 2.5" outlet compressor shroud, and the TE45A uses the old 3"/ 2" shroud. I believe the GT exhaust wheel is different too.

You can also get the TE45A with the 4" inlet and 2.5" outlet, so basically it is exactly the same as a "P-trim" 67. The 67 comes automatically with the bigger housing and the 45A you have to ask for it. Now a 67 with a GTQ turbine wheel is obviously a little different. I still wouldn't want to try spooling a GTQ turbine wheel, but that's just my personal opinion.
 
From where does the gt67 come with the 4" inlet? I had to specify it and pay extra when I bought mine. Course if you want the best pay even more and get a ported housing :-).

Comes with T04S Compressor Cover - 4" Inlet and 2.5" Outlet, 67mm 63 trim GT comp wheel, 76 P trim turbine wheel, .63 or .85 A/R.
For low 10 second applications, 3500 minimum stall required.

I don't know if John Craig includes this housing standard on the 67 or not but I requested it on my 45A and got it. The thing I like better about the 45A is that it is a big shaft turbo. PTE's 67 is a small shaft. Dunno if it really makes a difference for durability or not but it makes me feel better knowing my turbo is a big shaft when you're dealing with a compressor wheel of that size.

Last time I talked to John, the 45a was a small shaft. You can order it in big shaft from what I understand.

If you really want to know, call Limit and ask.
