I had an 85 TR transmission rebuilt a couple of years ago with an Art Carr super-rebuild kit, 10vane pump, and hardened stator support. I had put a B&M shift kit in a few years before that. Just before the car was wrecked too badly to repair, it started taking too long to shift into 4th...reved it up and let off the gas completely to get it to shift.
I now have an 86 that I would like use the beefier transmission in. Would swapping the valve body and any other parts from the 85 trans into the 86 be acceptable? What else would need to be, or should be, changed. Are governors, etc. different? This 85 trans is collecting dust, and I put a lot of $$ in it.
