My GN is getting painted this winter. I will keep this thread updated with the progess.

I am painting the car because of normal rust on the rear quarter panels and lower parts of doors. It also has lot's of checking in the paint. It will be getting GNX louvers and flares.

Right now, the car just got there, and it is waiting to be stripped.

Was hoping to get pics up of the car stripped of paint tonight. Unfortunately, the blasting guy's equipment broke, and it won't get in until Monday. Not sure when I'll be able to make it back in there with Christmas. They'll be up when I get them though!

*UPDATE*

The sandblaster guy still hasn't blasted the car yet. He wants to wait until after the holidays. So hopefully after the 1st, it won't be black anymore. We did however start checking some of the rust spots. It wasn't a good thing. We found lots of body filler in a few places. The A-pillar crumbled to pieces, along with the rocker panels. Especially underneath. The rear quarter panel is also bad, but we knew that before. I added 4 pictures to the gallery. You can click on it in the 1st post. Those are hopefully the worst rust spots. I am now afraid to get the car stripped and see what else is hiding under the paint.

I (hopefully) will have pics up after the 1st of the car stripped.

Billdogg,
Looking at your A-pillar picture. You might want to check your driver side hinged pillar and the floor pan.

Good luck

Jake, not sure. :) I was planning on that until about a week ago. I borrowed the color books from my painter, and got some ideas. Right now, I'm thinking of 2 tone with gray on top,and silver on the bottom. Still undecided though.

The soda blasting guy is still putting off doing my car. Hopefully he will get it done one of these days, and we can get this project going!

Sandblasting guy has quit doing cars. He only wants to do heavy machinery and big trucks now.

My body guy is going to strip it now so he can get working on it, I promise some more pics soon!

*UPDATE*

Got most of the right rear quarter panel stripped. Came out to be 3 paint jobs on the car. Previous paint job had lots of clear coat on it, making it hard to strip. There are 5 new pictures in the webshots album above. They show the trouble areas we found. Hopefully, this we won't find anymore sections this rusty. One pic also shows my new GNX rims that I just picked up. They should look sweet once it's done.

P.S. Please don't daily drive your Buick in the winter. Especially when it's real salty in the wintertime. :)

*UPDATE*

Got almost all the passanger side stripped tonight. Will be taking more pics when it's all metal. (Hopefully sometime this next week.)

*UPDATE*

RUST! The car is getting more and more expensive everyday. It has turned into a frame-off restoration. The car was full of bondo and fiberglass covering up sloppy bodywork. The lower rockers were packed full of it. I added 8 more pics to the site listed above of the worst parts.

I will get more pics up when the body is off the frame.

Body is off the frame now. Put up a couple more pics of the body and frame seperate.
