There is a Supra in the latest issue of Turbo Magazine that made 980rwhp on the dyno and his fuel system is basically what we like to call a double pumper and 1000cc injectors (which I think are equal to 96lb/hr)...... Here is the thread on supraforums.com http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=161026

On the 3rd page of the thread you'll see I asked him if they were Walbro 340s and he said they were standard 255lph Walbros which might mean that they are Walbro 307s:eek: His duty cycle was 100% on the 980rwhp dyno run so as he said he needs bigger injectors..... Just thought I'd post this for those of you that don't think a double pumper setup is capable of handling 1000hp:D

I don't think anyone said it couldn't be done, done safely is something else. Why risk blowing up such an expensive motor to cheap out on a fuel pump. I think dbbl pumpers have been brought at least close to those levels in a TR, the question is why run it on the edge like that.

Honestly I don't think he is using the double pumper to "cheap out"..... I think he is using it because an external pump like a Weldon 2025 is not as street friendly (even with the Dial-A-Flow Controller that they sell).... Those in-tank pumps won't overheat like a big external would thus you won't have to worry about a pump dying on you while your driving your car on the street:) You're right the DPer has been at those levels in a TR cause I've heard of double pumpers being used on several mid to low 9 second full weight S2 TRs (mainly in Ohio) and as crazy as it may sound I think White Racing's twin turbo S2 '86 T-type that runs low 8's uses Red's double pumper!!!

I think at those levels using those pumps is taking more of a chance than using the single external, especially since you can use a switch on it for street use that will prevent the overheating. Also with 2 pumps you will run more of a risk of 1 pump going south and leaning out the motor, that is why I elected not going the twin external route. I guess its just another fine line between street and strip cars where you choose to take your chances.

I agree it is taking more of a chance or risk cause the second pump could die while the first one doesn't (that means your motor doesn't shut off so it could lean out the motor)..... There is really a fine line between street and strip cars IMO and in the end I guess it's just a matter of where you take your chances! Oh well I just thought it was interesting to see a Supra making that kind of power with a DPer and I just wanted to show that we aren't the only ones using this kind of a setup:)

I had a set of double pumpers in my car, And now i have no motor in my car, One slight miscalculation of how much fuel is in the tank and BAM. its all over, I am putting in a cell with a Aeromotive Gold pump. Problem solved

Sure, the first part of the above quote has been well documented over the years. I'm not from Ohio, but did run 9.6s in 2000 (doublepumper) before deciding to change to an external pump amid other changes. I believe, however, that the last part of the above quote is untrue as I recently discussed certain particulars of that car with Dan White.

We sell Walbro 242's to most of the import guys. They are laisted as a 255 but are the same as a 340 with a different inlet for a different size sock

Jack at Racetronix makes those aswell. Very good workmanship and decent pricing to. Thats who I would call if I needed one.;)

Sorry to hear that. Say what you want about him ( thats cool, but personal), but you can't knock the quailty of his product. He is very anal and his work is second to none. Nobody can dispute this, Period. because his stuff is built with the best of everything. I know this and him very well and he will always get my business any day of the week. I am running his custom fuel pump kit for my GN right now and absolutely love it.

You meant GSS342's.
GSS242's are 190L/Hr w/domestic (22-24mm) inlet.
