My compressor runs constantly regardless of where I put the temperature control. When I run it on max and slide the bar to warmer it stays cold but the fan seems to slow down. When I put it on normal and slide the bar the air warms up but the compressor keeps running. Also the engine temp is not affected at all whether or not the air is on or off. What gives? Tommy

The Temp control has no effect on the compressor... The compressor turns on for Max, Norm, Bi-Level, and Defrost regardless where you have the temp control at. It will turn off only in the Off, Heat, and Vent positions. (Unless the pressure switch disconnects it due to excessive line pressure)

The temp control is basically a leaver for a cable that diverts air accross the AC core (Cold Side) or the heater core (Hot side) before the air comes through the vents. If you put the temp control in the middle, air crosses both cores.

Consider yourself lucky if you can drive around in the heat with the ac on. After converting to 134, on 100 degree days, my coolant temp approaches 210 with several hours of driving.

Hope this helps! Sounds like you have no problem though.

whats the vent temps on those 100 degree temps? at idle and at city mph. if the compressor runs all the time its a bit low on freon if its r-12, if it runs moot of the time on r-134 its normal
