I need some help with supporting mods on a stock 86 T-Type. If I bought the Racetronix fuel pump kit, would I need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? Would I also need a new chip burned? I still have the factory chip. My car is totally stock right now besides exhuast.
One more thing, would switching to a 160* therm. require a new chip as well?
I'm not sure I can do all these mods at the same time due to money, just trying to make a plan. thanks

it all depend on where you want to go with the car
you don't have to change the chip with any of those...sure don't worry about the chip till you start turning that boost up;)
if you want more boost than you need an adjustable FPR

Getting a 160* stat would do no good with out a chip because the computer tell the fan when to turn on. First thing I would do is add the hot wire and a new fuel pump, scan master, boost gauge, stat and chip and an adjustable fpr. That's what I would add to a stock car.

You can do the fuel pump, hot wire, and 160 thermostat with no other changes required beforehand. Go ahead and do those when you can.

When you change the chip, you will likely need a 160 thermostat first, and a FPR first. This depends on the chip requirements.

With a 165 stat in my car it will run 170 no hotter while crusing 30mph in 90 degree weather. My chip turns the fan on at 175, and I can hear/see on the t-link when the fan is one. So I think that the lower thermostat will help with the stock chip, if only for just highway speeds. On the highway sonmetimes it cools enough to where the stat will close. But this isn't 100 august weather. And all those temps are without the ac on.

I doubt you have the stock chip if it turns on the fan at 175.

No I don't run the stock chip. What I said was that even with the stock chip I beleave that a lower thermostat will help with temps, but only durring cruse, not sitting in traffic.

Try rereading my post.
