Ok, my pop's GN has developed a case of the ass over the winter. He parked it running like a top, now it won't start. It cranks fast, slows down, then speeds back up but will not fire. It has fuel, spark, and a charged battery. We replaced the crank sensor with anew unit, put a known good coil pack and module on it, replaced the plugs, new cam sensor cap, and verified that the cam sensor is spinning. We also verified grounds and electrical connections. The only things we have not messed with yet are the ECM/chip. We will also R&R the cam sensor tomorrow, but are looking for additional ideas before we get started. The one thing that bothers me, is that he found that the hot wire off the battery heading to the starter had the insulation rubbed off and had been grounding on the frame. Any chance this cooked the ECM?

did you verify fuel by pushing the shrader valve to see if some came out or did you put or have a fuel gauge on it. I have seen cases where there is fuel at the shrader valve from turning the key in "priming" but not enough pressure to run the engine.

It's possible.

Get a paper clip & check the codes. The connector is just under the radio:

This will look for hard system failures. I don't think it will find fuel pump problems if it won't start.

Yes wet plugs, and yes it has an alarm. I'll check on the crank sensor tomorrow when I get there.

anti-theft maybe? Does the car have an after market chip. Was the battery disconnect during the winter months?

Hi,
I would check fuel PRESSURE first,and if this is ok,I would test spark output. I have had a lot of troubles with low fuel pressure causing hiccups and such.

Check the fuses under the dash. Sounnds like you have fuel but no spark. You really do need a fuel pressure gauge somewhere....most install one on the fuel rail.
