A rambling about 200-4r bushing drivers

I've seen several posts stating that the Atec bushing drivers for the 200-4r were no longer in production so I had to check it out. I couldn't find a source either, so I decided to see if any of my 700r-4 drivers would fit the 200-4r bushings that I bought a week or two ago.
I was happy to find that I was only going to need my machinist to make a
couple of drivers. One with steps for three bushings and one with four steps.
I asked him several times for an estimate, but in the end he asked me what I
was going to pay for the Atec's and I told him $112. He said he could make
them for less than that, but I guess I will find out Friday when they are done.
I was asked if any of the bushings had a shaft sticking through them, and
I told him we would cross that bridge when we got to it.

I just made my own, I have a lathe so it wasn't too much of a problem.

I doubt it. The 200 & later GM transmissions were built around metric specs, including the 200-4R.

I work for a GM dealer. I bought the bushing kit from them. Its a "J" tool. But it cost me arm and leg. But now I dont use sockets to install them.

Did anything ever come of this? Were you able to have your machinist turn some? I'd still be interested in a set. Any one have a source for just the 200-4R drivers? I doubt I'd ever need any for a different trans.

200-4r bushing drivers

Yes, I did have my machinist make a couple of cones with
steps to fit three or four bushings each, but I haven't torn
down a trans to see if they will work as intended. The were
made on a CNC machine so the finish is excellent and they
fit the new bushings. As I stated in an earlier post, my
700-r4 bushing driver set from AutomotiveTools.Com - The most comprehensive source for Automotive Tools & Equipment
has several drivers which fit the200-4r bushings and were
about $160.00+shipping when I bought them a few years ago.
