My mid 10 second car has sold to a couple who plan to retire it to street duty. I have an RJC girdle on the car now and it has developed an oil leak. This is the first leak it has had since installing the girdle 4 years ago.

My question is has anyone left the girdle off of a motor set up to use it?

This car will be on 93 octane and 17 lbs. of boost when it leaves my house and will stay that way. With this setup it will still run in the 11.60 range. So since the caps have been milled for the girdle do you think their strength has been weakend enough to cause problems on an 11 second car if the girdle is not re-installed?

guess I'll dive in and give my $0.02

I dont see a problem with leaving it off in the case of being used in street trim only

I consitered leaving mine off for my elcamino setup since it will be pump gas combo but I decided to hang my nos system on it so girdle is staying on mine

if you do leave it off and gonna toss it out let me know where to find the can you toss it in

HA! I KNEW you were up to no good!:D

I guess my question would be --- "why buy a 10-sec car and go backwards?" It would seem to make much more sense to find a less modded car that hasn't had the abuse of 10-sec passes on it. But, that's just the common-sense within me... I'm certainly not suggesting you not selling it to them. It just appears that their plan of attack is a bit odd.

I don't know anyone who has removed the girdle, however, if the caps have lost some structural integrity, due to loss of "meat", then I would be a little concerned still trying to run the thing in the mid-11 second range too.

All things considered, why not simply address the leak problem, and leave the girdle on?
 Maybe I'm just too particular...

And a final thought --- We all know that when we say "xx.xx" will be fast enough, that in the end, it never really is. Once we reach our "planned goal", there's always something that makes us want to push a little more. Maybe this couple won't be that way, however, they'll be the first ones I've ever seen to have that much control over the "speed bug"...
